Sounds Like
The Electric Light Orchestra played by six hacks from Minneapolis.
Originally formed to compete in the annual Cover Song Contest at famed Minneapolis rock club First Avenue in Jan. of 2005, The Electric Light (no) Orchestra has taken a life of its own due to the world's unquenchable thirst for hearing such gems as "Living Thing" and "Mr. Blue Sky" in a live rock setting. Members of Accident Clearinghouse, Manplanet, Detroit, and Billy Johnson's Roadshow unite beneath six giant afro wigs and six pairs of cheap sunglasses as six Jeff Lynnes and spread the good vibes "All Over The World!" E.L.nO. has performed their show along side a screening of the legendary film Xanadu, opened up for semi-legendary prog. super-group Asia, and is booked for Halloween from now until one of them dies (also available for weddings, bar mitsvahs, and funerals). The possibilities are endless, so "Hold On Tight" and enjoy the ride!
Hey you guys - thanks for the super fun show at Lee's tonight! I had a great time, despite a couple of highly uncoordinated drunk dudes on the dance floor...See ya in a month. *MWAH!*
Kudos, gentlemen. thanks for "So Serious" and "Showdown". I'm glad to see that E. L. nO. is truly a democratic band "of the people, by the people, for the people". Great setlist, I hope they stay in the rotation.
So... While doing some research at the Jeff Lynne Song Database, I noticed that "Showdown" is the only single released by E.L.O. to break into the USA charts TWO SEPARATE TIMES! Two years apart, at that. Weak song you say? John Lennon didn't think so when he called it one of his favorite records. I'm just sayin'...
Great show last night, despite no "Showdown". Here is a picture of a lil' Lynne dancing to "Shine a Little Love" in front of the projector screen for the disco party at the school where I work. Afterwards, all of the kids were pretty stoked and wanted to here more so they got a "Last Train to London". I hope they'll be attending your shows in about 12 years.
