We are a lovely quartet of stringed things. We play all types of music and noises (we're particularly good at the noises). Recently we've worked with Meredith Monk, supported and collaborated with Hot Chip, featured on the soundtrack to In The Loop, improvised with Damo Suzuki from Can at the Purcell Room, performed in New York and Texas, done a gig inside a volcano, collaborated with Adem, performed George Crumb's "Black Angels" in York, improvised soundtracks for beautiful old silent films at the BFI, played on the beach of the river Thames, travelled to Belgium to play a festival and scraped up the hire van, recorded the 2nd Gabriel Prokofiev album (out now on Nonclassical label!), improvised at a fire festival (Luminox) in a bandstand lit by fire, toured Britain with Adem/Richard Swift/Nina Nastasia, and recorded our own EP of our own music. Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
