Bio
"Organiste, pianiste, compositeur au talent de nombreuses fois récompensé (Victoire du jazz, Django d'Or) Emmanuel Bex, compagnon de route de Barney Willen, Babick Reinhardt, Philip Catherine, Aldo Romano, est une figure des plus impressionnante du jazz français." Armand Meignan .... Emmanuel Bex was born in 1959, in Caen, into a family of musicians. He was just 13-years old when he won his first piano prize. He opted initially for a classical training: Gold Medal for chamber music, 1st Prize in specialist music theory, 1st Prize for bassoon. Then came two pivotal meetings, first with Bernard Lubat, then Eddy Louiss; the Hammond organ was henceforth his instrument of choice. In 1984, he won a Sacem Prize for composition. He played concert after concert, recorded albums and toured internationally (with Barney Willen, Babick Reinhardt and Christian Escoudé, or in the company of musicians such as Philip Catherine, Aldo Romano and Louis Winsberg). The Academie du Jazz awarded him the Prix Django Reinhardt in 1995. Then in 2000 his trio, with Glenn Ferris and Simon Goubert, won the Grand Prix awarded by the Academie Charles Cros, a Django d’Or for best group and the Academie du Jazz’s Prix Boris Vian. 2003 saw a nomination at the Victoires du Jazz Awards in the musician of the year category, as well as the Django d’Or for musician of the year. In 2004 he released the album Conversing with Melody on Naïve; this was a departure for Emmanuel as, playing unaccompanied piano and organ, it was his first solo recording. He followed up the album with a series of concerts featuring guest artists including Steve Shehan, Michel Portal and Didier Malherbe. 2006 : OrganSong with the bresilian diva Mônica Passos 2007 : Concerto for Hammond Organ and Symphonic Orchestra -

Bonjour Emmanuel,
Serge Bach
