encomiast came into being around 1999 and has released seven full-length collections on various labels beginning w/ the self-titled self-released excursion in 1999, followed by:

The latest releases are a reissue/remaster of the '99 self-titled encomiast album Lens Records, and 139 Nevada a 2 CD split release between encomiast and the newly formed The Copper Thieves. This collection is based on recordings done in the allegedly quite haunted Belvidere Theatre in Central City, Colorado. In addition, the project has been featured on about a dozen compilations, been involved in film music, and performed live in a semi-consistent manner. As indicated by the "members" section, the lineup is fairly malleable, as are the sound sources, encompassing everything from analog synths, to field recordings, to old rock demos.
Upcoming releases are TBA. Older plans are changing and newer ones are being forged.

I have decided to dedicate the majority of my time to recording and selling albums. Currently I am on a Cassette kick, and everything that I am self releasing, or releasing on the label I own and operate (Kapustin Yar Records) is now on Tape. Prices will remain as low as possible on said products, because Tapes are for die hard collectors or Cassette enthusiasts only these days. I am now recording for a new set of releases called the "Persona
Series". These cassettes will be commissioned works (not by content,
but by payment) for individuals. If John Smith in London, England
wants his own Zebulon Kosted album, I will make a 45 minute album (one
side of a 90 minute tape), 2 hand drawn mini posters, I will name the
album after him (Zebulon Kosted - John Smith), and the fan will retain
all rights to the recording (for use of any future release, sampling,
or broadcasting rights). One copy of the album will remain in my
personal collection, and one will be sent to the customer, so that the
only copy that will be in circulation will be John Smiths copy! Each
album is available for the ridiculously low price of $10 (not including
shipping), and will be shipped in its completed form no later than 6
