Em 2005, o Envydust lançava "Quando estar vivo não basta", seu disco de estréia, com ótimas músicas que se tornaram hinos ao longo de três anos de turnês e causou tremendo impacto em uma cena que ainda estava tomado forma. Não é exagero dizer que o disco pavimentou e jogou luz aos caminhos que muitas bandas hoje seguem.
Ainda em 2005, o novo single "O leilão do lote 77" já dava pistas do que estaria por vir. Com instrumental intrincado e uma gritante evolução musical, a música trata de fé, céu, inferno e mitos que envolvem tudo isso de maneira inteligente e com fina ironia. "Apresenta Ele", revelada no primeiro semestre de 2007, causou espanto em quem esperava o "Leilão 2 – a missão" ao apresentar uma dinâmica totalmente diferente do que se imaginava da banda até então.
O que esperar da banda agora?
"Hora de partir", uma prévia do novo disco disponibilizada em dezembro de 2007, é o elemento que faltava para mostrar que o segundo disco do Envydust será outro marco para a cena em que a banda se insere, com uma produção impecável e apresentando uma sonoridade em que a banda não só rompe barreiras de rótulo (como chama-los simplóriamente de "post hardcore", "screamo" e afins) como ousa, em plena era do mp3, lançar um disco conceitual em que a arte e música se completam, resultando em uma experiência musical/conceitual desafiadora para o ouvinte.

"I'd be a happier guy if every year there would surface two or three bands with the same edge and potential as Envydust. Not that Brazil lacks good new bands, au contraire, fresh rock acts pop up by the day in the Brazilian independent scene. I just think it's a little hard for a group to come around delivering a debut release with the quality of "Quando Estar Vivo No Basta", it usually takes bands two or three efforts to reach the excellence status showcased by Envydust in their first album.
Envydust's emocore is more of a screamo sound really, mixing vocal melodies with howls and growls. The highlight is definitely singer Max's marvelous melodic pitch, which manages to standout in a band where the instrumentation is extremely tight and the lyrics are very well written. What may be sort of outshined here is the second singer's screaming and shouting, not because it's poor or unfitting, but because of Max's unique voice, which allows for songs to be very well elaborate and well sung by him.
I have no doubts that Envydust is the best Brazilian band today within this trend that the emo genre has become, or any of its variations for that matter: emocore, screamo, metalcore. Plus, "Quando Estar Vivo No Basta" is one of the best albums ever released in the Brazilian scene, and will definitely feature among the year's top releases, if not earn that number one spot."
