It's just myself on the vocals alongside my good man Mr Bleezy "Alex Blood" Breeze Block who has produced most of the beats on the album, all of which are slick, self-composed, emotive gems.
Influences
Tupac Shakur due to his pure passion and self-beleif, the guy knew what was going on around him and laid it all out, wasn't afraid to contradict himself and show the myriad of characteristics that made him the cultural icon that he is. Then, through Bleezy, I discovered Gangstarr. The Moment of Truth album just blew me away and the track "Moment of Truth" came into my life at a time when it was really needed and beleive it or not really picked me up. For me its all about the lyrics, I've always been deep into what an MC is talking about, what they beleive, what insights they can give me and on that level it's been all about Public Enemy, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, KRS-One, Aceyalone, Nas, all of those poetic heads that could tell it like it is.
Hip Hop aside it's been about those artists I grew up listening to. Jacko's a genius and in my opinion massively misunderstood, the guys a product of a pretty fucked up childhood, his pops exploited him and his siblings hard, working them like slaves without allowing them to do the things most kids love doing. It's dark. Then there's The Levellers, fellow anarchists who in my opinion are one of the most enjoyable, politically on point bands about. These days I listen mostly to the kind of Hip Hop that stretches me, Sage Francis, Atmosphere, Aesop Rock, that kind of shit. To me Slug out of Atmosphere is probably the best lyricist I've ever heard, pure poetry that works on every level in a different way for every person.
