Violinist Eric Wuest is a versatile musician equally accomplished as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. He has performed as a soloist with many orchestras, including the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the University of Michigan Philharmonic Orchestra, and the UCLA Philharmonia. Mr. Wuest was also featured on the National Public Radio show "From The Top" in 2000, and his performance was selected for the "From The Top: Volume 2" CD. In 2008, he was chosen as one of 24 competitors for the Second Benjamin Britten International Violin Competition in London.
As a chamber musician, Mr. Wuest was a member of the Alcantara Piano Quartet from 2005 to 2008, during which time the quartet performed throughout southern California and was featured on the South Bay Chamber Music Society concert series, the Concertos Pomeridiano concert series, the Sunday concert series at the Richard Nixon Library, and a faculty chamber music concert at UCLA. The Alcantara Piano Quartet was also a finalist at the Coleman Chamber Ensemble Competition in 2006 and 2007, as well as a semi-finalist at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in 2006. Additionally, Mr. Wuest has performed in masterclasses for Menahem Pressler, the Borodin Quartet, and the Tokyo String Quartet.
As an experienced orchestral musician, Mr. Wuest has played under such notable conductors as James Conlon, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, Sir Neville Mariner, Nicholas McGegan, David Robertson, Michael Stern, Leonard Slatkin, and David Zinman. He attended the Aspen Music Festival for four summers from 2002 through 2005, during which time he played in the Aspen Festival Orchestra, the Aspen Chamber Symphony, and the American Academy of Conducting Orchestra. He is currently a member of the New West Symphony. Mr. Wuest was the principal second violinist on the multi-Grammy Award winning album "Songs of Innocence and of Experience" by William Bolcom, which was recorded at the University of Michigan in 2004.
