Evan Brown is a musician, closet cartoonist, frisbee enthusiast, and all around run-of-the-mill guy. As guitarist/backup vocalist for the rock band Shaimus, his guitar playing was featured in the original smash hit video game Guitar Hero ("All Of This"), as well as the Rock Band game franchise ("Like a Fool"). Additionally with the band, he has received mainstream radio airplay, licensed music to MTV, signed a publishing deal with North Star Media, become a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition ("Turn the Other Way"), and appeared in the Sony/Screen Gems film The Roommate in an Oscar-worthy performance as "Band Member 3."
Apart from Shaimus, Evan is also a freelance guitar player/composer (including a performance with Arielle Verinis at the 2008 Long Beach Blues Festival) and a solo artist. His cheesy rock guitar version of the fight song for the Philadelphia Eagles became a regular feature on the number one morning show in Philly, WMMR's Preston and Steve Show (he would also perform live on the show in 2006).
Evan grew up near Philadelphia, PA where he began playing music at a young age in the church bell choir (with all the cool kids) and later on sax in the school band (with even cooler kids). He first picked up a guitar in middle school; six months later he started his first band and never looked back. Several bands and a few albums later, he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. He currently resides in Los Angeles, CA, where he spends most of his time attempting in vain to maintain a reasonable tan.
what up Ev-man! Just getting the word out about my show with Putnam Murdock on 11/8. We're opening for The Big Organ Trio and jazz/funk/fusion monster guitarist Will Bernard at the Mint. Mark your calendar! Fresh!
Yeah there's a slew of them...loooooots of free time! I think the fact that Batman sounds like Kermit the Frog is my favorite...there's just something messed about that :)
Lionel Hutz: Well, he's kind of had it in for me ever since I accidentally ran over his dog. Actually, replace "accidentally" with "repeatedly," and replace "dog" with "son. "
YES! Let's do something soon! This week is pretty hectic, but how about next? I can even meet you for lunch, if that works better for you. I'll just have to clear it with my boss :P
I can't wait to hear it man! You guys need to work out some deals with Harmonix and get back into the video games scene, because that would just be flat out cool!
