The year has just about reached the middle mark and Exercise One are ready as
ever to sweep the dancefloors with their signature interpretation of modern
techno. 2008 has been a productive one so far and has seen a number of releases
of the infamous duo.
They kicked off the year with a two-tracker named 'Wandering' on their own imprint
Lan-Muzic. Typical for their releases on home turf they tried to capture a different
atmosphere on each of the tracks to display different arrays of where their sound
can go. This was followed by the release of a one-sided white-label which was
meant to be a small scale limited edition of their key live-set track at the time,
which had been getting mad reactions at their live-shows. Originally intended as a
remix for the London based artist David E. Sugar this track never made it on an
official release but the guys still decided to incorporate it in the set. Seeing the
impact it had they decided that it should be available for at least a few interested
people and the label 'Exone' was born for the purpose of making this song publically
available. It received very high acclaim and was to be heard on many dancefloors
this Spring.
Next up was the 'Intensity' ep for their favorite stable Mobilee and again they
managed to put together two nicely tweaked tracks that fit variable occasions. One
side offers the more jacking, rougher tip whereas the flipside has the groovy,
deeper touch that consequently evolves into a killer sunrise track.
More or less at the same time they also had another horse jumping the gate in form
of a remix for 'District of Corrution'. They were asked to rework the highly
successful track 'Therapy' by Peter Grummich and didn't waste much time to attack
this tempting task. They came up with a beauty and the reactions proved them
right. It is no surprise that this wasn't their last remix request of the year but before
they moved on to the next project they had another idea creeping up their minds.
Since the Exone release from January worked so well they couldn't resist to think
about another live-set jewel they had been playing for a while which was funnily
enough another remix work that had never made it on vinyl. This remix was
originally produced for Lee Burridge and besides being on Ewan Pearson's Fabric
mix-cd of last year it never made it on an ep release. Logically the Exone 2 was
born and hit the shops in early June.
To finish the remix agenda of the first half of '08 their friends of 'Upon You' had
asked them to remix the new spanish signing 'OEL & Polygon' and again Exercise
One were more than happy to manipulate and re-arrange the original track to round
up the 13th release of the Upon You compound.
All this production work sparked many ideas for the live-set and the ever evolving
work in progress is steadily breeding constant renewels of the Exercise One live-set,
which are lighting up the summer festival stages at the moment from Fusion to 10 Days Off. This development will most likely even get another boost because now the time has come for the guys
to work on an album and the most promising ideas will be tested on the dancefloors of this globe.
So shine those dancing shoes and get ready to bounce.
