The Exgirlfriends started in a pub, on a rainy night, in the midst of a fist-fight, amongst shattered glass and human debris. Original line-up Eric "The Man" Pessel (Vocal), Ian "Jimmy" Stewart (Guitar), Ambrose "The Face" Seddon (Bass), and Steve "The Beard" Crow (Drums) had a Remit to Rock, no fuss, no fx, no wank. Early reviews stressed the importance of a band almost genetically on the verge of self-destruction, and constantly, consistently not destructing. And the songs are Good. New line-up with Billy "The Rock" Strachan (Drums) and Tom "The New Man" McGrath are doing just that, now even better. Tag teaming with Bruce "The Actual Man" McClure of Seed Satellite (an offshoot of Seed Records) for managerial excellence, the band look forward to a double a-side (who writes b-sides?) 7" dropping late this year, or maybe early next, and up and up and up. Catch them on their self-branded "yakuza" gigs, here and on the east coast of the U.S.

August 21st , this Thursday, is a very special show at the Buffalo Bar with Cibelle / Serafina Steer and Horton Jupiter from They Came From The Stars (I Saw Them) Djing. Cibelle’s only other London date this year is at Bush Hall which is much more expewnsive than ours so this may well be the only time you get to see her in such an intimate venue.
