Exit Wounds took its first steps back in 2001 as founder of the band, J. Lahikainen, decided to let his musical ambitions to become in audible form. The aim was set to provide extreme form of metal consisting of fast and techinal death metal blended with old school elements. Shortly after the band was founded, the first demo entitled, "Pleasures of Blood and Carnal Sin", was recorded in spring '02. Not long after that, line-up changes took place as S. Manninen and B. Niininen joined the band in summer '02. As Exit Wounds was now in its full prime for the first time, months of intense rehearsing and song writing quickly resulted to a new release, "Deathpoint". It was never released by the band itself, as a small record label, Onyxia, showed their interest to release it as a split-CD(w/Luciferase), which was eventually released in summer 2003.
Almost two years after Exit Wounds once again hit the studio to record another demo,"Pandemic", 2005. By now, the band was diminished to a trio. The following period of 2006-2007 seemed to be a little bit hazy for the band as it seemed to be more or less on a hiatus, although it still remained active. Eventually, a decision to record the fourth demo/promo appeared and Exit Wounds was back to start the recordings of another release, "Indoctrination", in early 2007.
In the middle of the recordings, the founding member and the vocalist, J. Lahikainen, quit the band. Naturally, this situation forced the band to postpone the recordings. After a couple of months of searching, new vocalist for Exit Wounds was found in Ari Nieminen (Dauntless, Hanging Garden), late autumn '07.
