The opening line to Fat Dixie’s “Backroad”…“I’m just country, unlike the rest”…sums up this southern rock band. With roots firmly in the south, Fat Dixie has taken their love for bands such as The Black Crowes, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Willy Nelson and Waylon Jennings along with some not so country bands such as Matchbox Twenty, STP, Train and Tom Petty to cultivate their own unique sound. Fat Dixie formed in May of 2006 when Jared Sutton, Shaun Cook, and Jarrod Baker (formerly of Oklahoma based band Bishops Alley) called T.J. Chesshire and Bob Miller (formerly of Texas based band Ragtown) to ask if they would be interested in starting a new project. Not long after, T.J. and Bob moved to Seminole, Oklahoma and Fat Dixie was born. Prior to Fat Dixie’s formation, the members toured the region for 7 plus years in their respective bands playing over 1000 shows, releasing 3 full length albums, and cultivating a fan base. In December 2008, drummer Jeremy Wilson became the newest member of the band. Since Fat Dixie’s inception, the band has written over 30 original songs, released a debut album entitled Spinning My Wheels in July 2007, received airplay in several radio markets, consistently ranks as one of the top 5 Southern Rock and Country artists in Oklahoma on MySpace, and performed shows throughout Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Nebraska, and Texas. The band released their newest album entitled Speakeasy in September 2009.

Hi Guys! We really miss you around here. Hoping we can make one of the shows coming up soon. Either Newkirk or Parsons. Would have come to see you in Coffeyville, but got tickets to the Dallas Game in KC. We are still waiting on our CD from Jared. We love you guys!!
You guys are polished, very professional, really smooth sounding. I like it when you get a little gritty-- it gives you an amazing edge that sounds more like your live show.
Looking forward to playing with you guys in McAlester! Long time no see! We will make up for lost time this Friday! See you then!.. PS. New CD sounds good!
