Sydney songwriter Fergus’s melodic guitar-pop is reminiscent of The Shins, Bon Iver and Ben Kweller, but he is equally aligned with the lyrical peculiarities of artists such as Randy Newman, Jonathan Richman, and The Magnetic Fields.
His debut record 'Burgers Frown' is a collection of sometimes quirky, sometimes tender, love songs. Musicians on the record include Producer Tony Dupé (Holly Throsby), Producer Paul Mac (silverchair), Tim Derricourt (Dappled Cities), Jack Ladder and Holly Austin.
Fergus’ song ‘Last Winter’ featured prominently on Emmy award-winning US TV series ‘The Starter Wife’ and he has already performed with Martha Wainwright, Jens Lekman, New Buffalo, Cloud Control, An Horse and Jack Ladder.
Fergus is a former winner of the Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards (SOYA), and the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, an emerging artists award scheme overseen by the Lennon Foundation in New York City.
Fergus is currently touring the Australian east coast in May/June 2009, and Europe & the US east coast in July/August 2009.
‘Burgers Frown’ is available online and in (Australian) stores now!

Hey! Thank you so much for accepting me (: Your voice is absolutely amazing! I also loved what you did with the name of your album, very clever, haha (: I bought it off iTunes about 2 days ago and I'm absolutely loving it!!!
I enjoyed your set so much on the weekend. We have all been listening to your CD and have collectively decided that it totally rules. Hope to see you in Brisbane again soon, perhaps at The Troubadour for a dance.
Hey Fergus! Not sure if you remember me but we did exchange a couple messages on here after the Jens Lekman show last year. Anyway, just got a hold of your record and am giving it a spin at the moment. Total class, I love it so far! It's really making this whole 2:30am study thing more manageable for me at the moment hah.
Keep up the good work and I'll definitely try and make it to one of your shows soon after this semester ends. I'm really proud of how far you've come!
Loving the album, I went and got it the day after it came out. I would've ordered it online but I took all my money out of my bank account and only had cash in hand. Been enjoying it thoroughly since.
The postman dropped off your album today and I just finished listening to it. It's fabulous! I enjoyed it very much indeed. Sounds wonderous and the artwork is quite spiffy too. Good job!
Hey Ferg, it's great to see the record getting such a good response with people and press. Great tour poster and lineup too! Good luck dude, x Jake Stone
