Our third album is called ONDA - which means WAVE.
We hear a wave coming. It comes from far away, it rises, it builds in strength. Our roots are its power source: the roots are still strong, still full of life despite all globalization. The wave moves using modern communications: diverse people, once isolated by geography, now can connnect their common interests and values. The wave's direction, the urgency to communicate, is also strong: producing energy, flying over boundaries, burning bridges. Though those who own the world seek conflict, individual people can meet and intertwine their roots without diluting them in the process. Technology and communication are new weapons in the same old mission: to find, claim and keep our place in the world. The wave we have been waiting for so long is coming, and we have got to ride it, or drown.
Everything is about to change. Everything is already changing.
Il nostro terzo album si chiama ONDA. Sentiamo arrivare un'onda. Viene da lontano, sale, accumula forza. Le nostre radici ne sono il generatore: e le radici sono ancora forti, ancora vitali nonostante tutte le globalizzazioni. La tecnologia, la comunicazione istantanea, l'aggregarsi tra persone molto diverse tra loro sulla base di interessi e valori condivisi ne sono il movimento e la direzione di marcia; e la voglia di comunicare .. anch'essa forte, produce energia, scavalca i confini, brucia tappe. Anche se i padroni del mondo cercano lo scontro, i popoli si incontrano e le radici si intrecciano senza per questo annacquarsi. E tecnologia e comunicazione sono armi nuove messe al servizio della stessa missione di sempre: trovare, rivendicare, tenere il nostro posto nel mondo. L'onda che aspettavamo da tanto tempo sta arrivando, e dobbiamo cavalcarla.
Tutto sta per cambiare.
Grande notizia: faremo il film su e con il Coro delle Mondine di Novi. Sarà un documentario, che racconterà la storia di queste straordinarie signore, dalla risaia alla fondazione del Coro di Novi, fino all'incontro con i Modena City Ramblers e poi con noi Fiamma Fumana. Il titolo provvisorio, che secondo me è bellissimo è "Mondine - Di madre in figlia". Vogliamo raccontare il coraggio e l'energia positiva di questo gruppo di donne, che rappresenta un po' la parte migliore dell'Emilia, quella in cui anche noi FF ci riconosciamo e di cui vorremmo raccogliere l'eredità.
Il produttore del film è Davide Ferrario, con cui siamo amici dai tempi di Materiale resistente. Il regista è il giovane (ma "tosto") Andrea Zambelli. Faremo anche un libro, insieme all'editore milanese No Reply, e vorremmo scrivere questo libro insieme a tutti quelli che sentono il canto delle mondine come una cosa anche loro, un pezzo del "noi". Vogliamo raccogliere materiali (foto, pensieri, scritti, racconti, interviste) per il libro e - in parte - anche per il film, siete tutti invitatissimi a partecipare.
Great news: we have started shooting for a film about the Choir of the Novi rice weeders. The film will tell the tale of these extraordinary ladies, from the work in the rice paddies to the foundations of the Choir in the early 70s and its encounter with Fiamma Fumana in the late 1990s, which over the year led to them featuring in all of our albums and a joint show. Their energy and warmth are inspirational for us all: they represent the best part of Emilia Romagna, the one we stand for.
The film will be produced by one of Italy's top film directors, Davide Ferrario, and directed by young up-and-comer Andrea Zambelli. We'll also make a book, published by Milan-based No Reply, and we would like to open the book to the contribution of everyone who feels to be part of the story of the rice weeders. If you want to contribute pictures, thoughts, writings, memories and experiences you are more than welcome to do so, we are certainly interested.

The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
