I play in Skelpaig with David Adam and David Sutherland.
The lineup is fiddle, viola, border pipes, small pipes, highland pipes, whistles and guitar. But not all at the same time.

I also compose and play mental wee tunes with or without the other Skelpites, and welcome suggestions or invitiations to explore new musical (mythical or otherwise) places...

Hello hello welcome along, here's some stuff about me...
I play the fiddle and write tunes. Watch out, if you get to know me at all I'll probably write a tune about you.
I play a big old mix of tunes I've written and anything else I like the sound of. I'm most at home with West Coast Highland music, but also play Irish, Breton, Galician and a tiny bit of Basque stuff too. Right now I'm really getting into backup grooves on the fiddle and getting my fingers round my new 5-string.
I'm from Portree on Skye (well, Claigan near Dunvegan if you want to go far enough back) and grew up playing fiddle at Ceilidhs - and singing until the fiddle took over.
I was in Glasgow for 5 years (yes, it's a 4 year degree. Just ask if you ever want excess information on avoiding and recovering from tendonitus) on the BAAM course, playing, teaching, working for Glasgow Fiddle Workshop, Celtic Connections, Dunblane Fiddle Workshop, Glasgow Violin Shop and various Fèisean all over the place. I taught independantly at the Violin Shop until Angus Council were daft enough to employ me full time as an instructor.
Yes, that is me in the 25 year book of the Fèis with various lengths of hair.
I now play in Skelpaig and teach strings in Angus. I write the 'Funky Fiddler Tune Books' - number three has been almost finished for a couple of months now but hopefully ready soon. They are currently just for my pupils but there seems to be demand so maybe I'll get around to publishing them outside of schools.
I used to present the Folk and Roots show on Radio North Angus on Friday nights, and the show is in the process of moving to Heartland fm in Perthshire. It'll be the same show but on Thursday nights once a month - I can't wait to get started!
As the name suggests, I play folk, trad, roots music and that sorta thing. Well really, if I like it then I'll play it.**
As ever please keep sending me your news, tour dates and anything else you'd like the world to know about - especially your cds if you'd like me to play them. I'll have a bigger listenership on the new station so it's even more worth it!
You can email the show on folkandroots@hotmail.com; I'll have the new postal address up here soon.
Thanks to everyone who has sent me cds so far, I've been having a great time listening to them!
You can find the playlists on my blog.
Cheers the noo! Kat x
**but not if it's got sweary words in it cos then I'll get in trouble.
