F.O.S. or Figures Of Speech, was born out of a desire to take a valiant stance in the movement of good music. The group is composed of Clokwise - a master wordsmith, that controls lyrics like a painter controls his paintbrush, and Verse-Is - an intricate writer, crafting pieces with words, who plays Van Gogh to Clokwise's Picasso. F.O.S. currently reside in Lansing, MI but its members come from not only different backgrounds but also different cultures. Clokwise, of Russian-Jewish decent, hails from Toronto, Ontario while Verse-Is, African-American, hails from Detroit, MI. The two met in highschool and began rapping together soon after. They were originally known locally as Logic and Precise yet later became Clokwise and Verse-Is of Figures Of Speech. The name itself is an embodiment of the group and its dedication to not only lyricism but also true hip-hop. F.O.S. are figures of speech, men of the words they use and use those words to create, maintain, and cultivate the art of hip-hop. Their music has been compared but never pigeon-holed, complimented but never compromised, they have remained true to the art of hip-hop, their cultures and each other, F.O.S. yes.
