Film was a staple on the atlanta music scene from 1995 to 2003 producing ground breaking music. Like any band with a long history, Filmwent through many changes in both personnel and direction, ultimately leading to its final but most solid position.
The band was made up of five individuals who all shared a passion for melody, groove, rhythm and emotion, a combination of styles that produced an uplifting, anthemic sound, well renowned in Atlanta. Influenced by British bands like The Charlatans, The Happy Mondays, The Who and The Beatles as well as American rock bands and dance music, Film songs span many genres and showcase awesome songwriting.
Tracks like ’Chemical Wonder’, ’Q’ and ’Be With Me Now’ have already been featured in movies and on television and heard thousands of times on web sites like mp3.com - The band was voted one of the Top Ten unsigned bands by VH1 and Top 16 by Mars Music. The band has released 2 full CD’s; 1999’s Filmland and 2001’s ’..rolling..’ as well as a handful of other singles.
Micheal Lee (now going by Michael Johns) is a contestant of American Idol Season 7. Mike auditioned in San Diego and got through easily. (Not surprisingly!). You can check out his audition here. Rumour has it that Mike made his way pretty far in the competition. He sang in cover bands for years in Atlanta before (and after) his stint in Film, so this competition might as well have been made for him. After Michael Johns left Film he joined The Rising. He used 2 Film songs (Q -- renamed to So Alive" and "Coming Down") but unfortunately got dropped before the cd was ever released. You can’t buy The Rising’s CD, but.. you can still get a copy of those songs (exactly the same version) on Film’s EP "rolling", available from Amazon or iTunes.

I was just watching "Real Estate Pro's" on TLC. The episond was called "Branching Out". (2007) The closing song was Breakaway. They played almost the entire song. No words just the music. I enjoyed singing along with it tho! Thanx!
There must be bigger things than AI for our Michael Johns...but still I can barely lift my head. Thank goodness I purchased Film's cd on Amazon a few weeks ago, so I can still hear that voice, rather than only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays!
I'm still trying to wrap my head around how Michael could have been voted off Idol so prematurely and it's just not fitting I can't do it it's NOT LOGICAL I thought for sure she would have made at least the top 4 or three maybe even 2 just goes to prove not everybody necessarly votes according to whose the most talented or had the best performances on a given week cuz Michael is definitally on of the most talented contestants that was on Idol this year and his performance almost 2 weeks ago now wasn't even bad enough to land him in the bottom three let alone get him voted off yet it happened I still can't believe it Things like that make me so mad He deserved to go SO MUCH further in the competation than finishing 4th among the guys which is 8th over all but at least he made itonto the tour and then a little past that point not much though but he whatever these things happen sometimes I guess nobody reliezed he needed votes I know I didn't If I had thought he needed votes I would have voted for him for the whole window of time to vote or atleast tried to anyway. I wish Michael noting but the best for his future He was one of my favorite contestants this year and of all time actually
michael johns was the best on american idol. i don't know what went on with the voting, but that can't be right. there's no way he got the least amount of votes. i♥michael johns.
I can't believe he got voted off. I don't understand - I tried for 2 hours to vote and could not get through. This has to be fixed. I think I am done with AI.
