In a music scene saturated with bands who focus more on their image rather than their music, and bands who try too hard to be something “different,” Final Round, a four-piece rock/powerpop/punk band from Chicago, are quietly making waves in the Midwest with their own brand of fast paced, melody-driven songs. While Absolutepunk.net sights the band’s “enthusiasm for old-school pop-punk,” and compares them to other bands like Blink-182, MxPx, Weezer and NOFX, the boys in Final Round believe they are a breath of fresh air in today's music scene.
“So many bands out there are trying too hard to fit into the scene somehow,” Dan Lowes (bassist and vocalist extraordinaire) says. “A lot of bands say it, and it's true for us as well, we simply play the music we love," Lowes continues, and we won't stop until each and every face on this earth has been rocked off and we stand triumphant on a massive mountain of broken and withered skin." Final Round is fully capable of fulfilling that goal.
Armed with three vocalists, the band’s three-part harmonies and their own brand of revved-up rock will have you singing along with your toes tapping and your head bopping long after your voice tires and your muscles ache. And all you have to do is press "Play."
2008 promises big things for the band as they have finally solidified their line-up -- recently adding Dan’s younger brother Andrew Lowes on guitar/vocals, and Joe Rogalskan on drums. The band plan on taking their high energy, knock-out punch rock to the masses so be on the look out for a show near you!
During the spring of 2006, Final Round recorded their first full-length album None Of Us Will Ever Leave a Legacy with Dan Precision (88 Fingers Louie, Rise Against, Break the Silence) at the Bomb Shelter in Chicago. It features 11 tracks including the four above, and is available for sale online at this link and also at every show.
