Sounds Like
"down and dirty country songs as performed by the Sticky Fingers-era Rolling Stones"
"mixing up Buffalo Springfield, Faces, Flying Burrito Brothers, Willie Dixon, Terry Melcher, and a case of Strohs"
Flatfoot formed in East Lansing during the fall of 2000 by brothers Aaron and Jason Bales. We play rock and roll with some twang, pop sensibilities and punk energy.
"lately, live Flatfoot has been all about out-rocking the competition knees and elbows flailing wildly and somebody (it doesnt seem to matter who) howling a campfire tale gone wrong into the microphone." Cale Sauter, Lansing City Pulse.
Thanks! It was great to see Tom again after so many years! Swamp Sisters is very new-but we are gettin stuff together. S.C. should be recording soon so I'm happily busy with those projects.
damn you guys! why are you playing ONE DAY at (scene) before MY show?
seriously. (you guys know i love you and that my show won't be the same without you guys playing. at least i get to see you guys before i go all crazy!)
It definitely was "Come On In My Kitchen". In fact, the day after I went to Flat, Black, and Circular and picked up my first Robert Johnson record. CD. Whatever. It was a good buy.
I didn't play anything particularly memorable (i.e. no covers). It was singer/songwriter-esque, but not hippie stuff. I played two or three at, what was it - Common Grounds?
Anyway, I distinctly remembered your name from that one open mic night. It set me off on a Delta blues path for the next 5 years or so. No joke.
P.S. To change the subject to mythmaking:I believe that long ago in the basement of Akers Hall I played an open mic night with you. You may not remember me, but I remember a really good Robert Johnson song from you. But that was some time ago and my memory is hazy at times.
