Fender-wielding New York power-pop commandos Flying Machines
( http://www.fender.com/artists/index.php?id=91 )effortlessly evoke music you already know and love even as they take it to a whole other place you haven’t visited before. Channeling artful influences such as Queen, the Police, Electric Light Orchestra, Elvis Costello, Billy Joel and even Weezer and the Strokes, members William Ryan George (vocals, keyboards), John Wlaysewski (guitar, vocals), Evan Joyce (bass) and Ken Weisbach (drums) are soaring toward their own musical identity.
Flying Machines bear the fortunate distinction of being the first band discovered by interweb giant Yahoo Music and signed to the music partnership between Yahoo and USA Network (read: NBC Universal Inc.), which explains why you started hearing Flying Machines music on top-rated USA series Psych in 2008. This venture is a new model of exposing emerging music to the world using the vehicle of music wrapped around original programming marketing and promotion.
The Flying Machines guys clearly have pop smarts to spare, as evidenced in textbook pop gems such as “On a Whim,” “Video Games,” “Stay” and “Open Up,” all of which can be experienced in their full digital sonic glory on the band’s MySpace page. The band is scheduled to move from online phenom to major-label album-producing status in 2008.
Hey thank's for the add. I'm Sophie and I'm 22 and I live in Tennessee. I really like your music. Your song's are great. I love listening to them. Best of luck with everything. later
Hey guys thanks for the friend request! I had a blast at the show. Sorry missed pics of you playing but next time I promise. Check out the pics and vid (soon to add more) of Crooked Looks from the show on Friday. Hope to see you guys back here soon! Oh what about getting a girl a cd so I can listen to you in my car????
Hey! Caught you guys with Crooked Looks at the Waterway on Friday.....what a ridiculous amount of fun!!! You guys sounded great. You've got a new fan ;)
i can't believe you're going to york pennsylvania. it's very...different. to put it diplomatically. but the waterway's a good time. have fun and say hi to my homestate for me!
When are you guys having another show at home? I'm going through withdrawals. I walk down the street singing and dancing to "On a Whim" like a crazy person. It's a problem.
Hey John and gang, We darn near got a cd on MySpace. How bout givin us a chance to have you with us all the time? I need a cd to let my little girl experience this awesome band! I'm stuck with Miley/Hannah right now. The Collective Soul cd is cool while I wait! C'mon Boys. Us midwesterners can't get to New York & we are missing out on the hottest group around. Thanks for lifting me up with these tunes when I'm down. You guys feel like friends and I wish the richest of blessings for all of you.
Thanks for keeping up with us, John! You are the marketing man!
hey guys thanks for adding me! i have quite a few things to say, so i'll start at the start. first, nice tactic. i get friend requests from bands literally like every five minutes, and i never have time to check out every band. so saying you're buddies with crooked looks gave me incentive to listen to your music. which i like very much, by the way. two, sweet layout. it's sick nasty. three, i've definitely heard of you guys before, and that's probably because you have music on psych, which i used to watch a lot.
i already mentioned that i like your music, but i'll just reiterate that it's very catchy. i highly enjoy it.
well, you strapping young lads have a wonderful day. [=
