July 2009 - Great News for all you hardcore old school fans who have been questing the first two albums: EMI/Capitol has reissued "Sold Out" and "Heavy Mental" as a 2/1 CD on American Beat Records. It's available now at all Newbury Comics record store locations and at Amazon.com. In honor of the release we have dropped the original "It's a Night (For Beautiful Girls)" into our Player.

The Fools barged onto the Boston music scene with their first single "She Looks All Right in the Dark". Known for their outrageous live performances the band quickly gathered a loyal and ever-growing audience. Their first national (and then international) hit record, "Psycho Chicken," was a parody of Talking Heads' Psycho Killer. With the signing of the band to EMI Records came the first two albums "Sold Out" and "Heavy Mental". A second single "Its a Night (For Beautiful Girls)" swung up the charts, followed by a cover of Roy Orbison's "Running Scared". Touring North America first with The Knack and then with Van Halen helped to place the band firmly on the national stage. European tours, including shows with Cheap Trick and Journey, resulted in huge overseas record sales. Back home again The Fools released their biggest album, "World Dance Party". The band then enjoyed MTV video success with their remake of Manfred Mann's "Doo Wah Diddy" and the title track video "World Dance Party". The album also racked up four big radio songs: "Doo Wah Diddy", "World Dance Party", "Life Sucks...Then You Die" and "She Makes Me Feel Big".
These days The Fools live and work at the Mansion in Cape Ann's picturesque seaside township of Ipswich, Massachusetts. And while they may spend more time living than actually working, all those late nights locked away in the studio wing have borne remarkable fruit in the form of, dare we say it: A New Album! Amazing, but true! See the "Update" below for more info as it happens!
Check Upcoming Shows for performance dates and if you get a chance, do not miss catching the legendary Fools live. The mix of great music performed by uniquely talented musicians with a hefty helping of comedy comes together in an unmatched charm that has been lighting up millions of smiles over the years. And it all keeps getting better with time. Experience The Fools and smile for yourself.

This is an official squelch: Tonight's Fusion 5 show is NOT sold out.
Advance sales stopped as of last night but tickets are available at the
door tonight. Plan to arrive early in case the rumor becomes true.
Yes, I agree great show (Hi Pennie!!) sat nite. The only thing missing was a Mike Girard strip tease (and I even had my camera ready for it this time- darn!)
BTW, I got a few decent pics of the show if anyone wants to see them: I got a pic of Rich playing while lying on the floor and even one with Lou on his knees! I got Beth at The Fools concession stand and Fred the 7th Beatle ( and many more) You can send me an email if you want to see proof of these allegations:

Also, I did post them on facebook, but I realize that some of you guys just don't go there...
Been a fan since 1979, maybe even 78. I think it was 'BCN that might've broken Psycho Chicken or maybe Night for Beautiful Girls. I still listen to Sold Out (after I converted my vinyl to digital) all the time. It is truly great to find you guys are alive. You have inspired a lot of what I do through the years. many thanks, Spike
