A7X, Metallica, Trivium, Killswitch Engage, System of a Down, Bullet for My Valentine, All that Remains, As I Lay Dying, Shadows Fall...too many to name.
In May of 2004, drummer Will Morton and bassist Tony Suarez got together to jam on some newly acquired drums. They liked what they heard, and the next day Will brought guitarist Jeremy Humphrey over to see what kind of music they could create together. Three days later, the threesome was in the studio recording 2 new songs, including "Men Don't Cry", with Jeremy on vocals.
Being longtime Metallica fans, the three decided they needed to add another guitarist in order to perfect the sound they were trying to achieve. Guitarist Adam Dicarlo was added to the lineup in early June of 2004. They decided on the name FOUNDRY, which by definition is a place where metal is forged, or made. The "Foundry 4" as they called themselves, would continue to "make metal" and write songs in Tony's garage. They soon entered a local battle of the bands, where they were declared winner on August 18th, 2004. As the members perfected their sound and gained respect amongst the local music scene, FOUNDRY quickly climbed to the top of their game.
In November 2005, vocalist Ben Cardona was added to the lineup, completing the 5 piece, however a month later Adam left the band due to personal reasons, and FOUNDRY took the first of what would seem like many setbacks. In February 2006, the remaining 4 members regrouped and decided to revamp the existing material and get back to the stage. Within months, FOUNDRY was back again in the scene, and got their first opportunity to play with a national band, Ill Niño. This would be the first of many opportunities the band would encounter during their career, opening up for such acts as Dope, Mushroomhead, In This Moment, Atreyu, Flaw, Rev Theory, Sevendust, Egypt Central, Silent Civilian, Trust Company, Ekotren, Bury Your Dead, and several others.
In late 2006, Adam Dicarlo returned and the band was once again complete. They perfected their guitar harmonies, vocal harmonies, and tried to incorporate everything else they could into their music. During this time, Ryan Stevens filled in on vocals for several months while Ben was away taking care of personal matters. The band would continue to play shows, and Ben soon returned to the lineup.
The musicians would however take another setback in the spring of 2007, when Tony was asked to fill in for another local band, Eight Foot Stride, and FOUNDRY took yet another long break. With no band to play in, the other members would soon spread out and play with other local bands; Jeremy played with Storm the Gates, and Ben sung for Downside. Adam started his own side project, and it seemed like FOUNDRY was done for good. However, things had still only just begun.
In late 2007, FOUNDRY regrouped once more, adding guitarist Dustin Boney to the lineup. The band was quickly back in the scene, with their comeback show nearly selling out. Two months later, FOUNDRY was on tour with In This Moment, and quickly realized that this is what they were meant to be doing. They are currently working on their first full length album which will be independently released in January 2009.
