.. .. Fox Chase Drive formed in 2005 as a result of four kids coming together who just loved to play music. "We all knew each other from being in different bands in the Jackson music scene." However, this wasn't the typical music of Mississippi. No backwoods banjoes or the whine of fiddles in the music of Fox Chase Drive. Their music is filled with distorted guitars, pure pop vocals, and a healthy dose of electronics. Fox Chase Drive knew they had something special on their hands. "We just make music that we love. We grew up listening to huge pop artist, and it definitely shows in our music."
The boys of FCD began touring the southeast, skipping school so they could play shows from Georgia to Arkansas to Louisiana and everywhere in between. They met producer Nick Baumhardt (The Class of 98, Flowers for Dorian) and three weeks later they were in the studio in Nashville recording their first EP (self-titled "Fox Chase Drive EP"). In the months that followed they played dozens of shows from Florida to Illinois. Fox Chase Drive spread their name throughout the south and midwest, gaining praise from both the music industry and fans alike.
Always wanting to better themselves and progress, Fox Chase Drive decided to record a new EP. They called Nick Baumhardt and got everything lined up to record. "When we found out we were good to go, we literally dropped what we doing and were on the way to Nashville 30 minutes later." As the recording process began to unfold, a feeling of something special began to fill the air.
There is something about these new songs - something that took time tested pop formulas and made them new again. They are a breath of fresh air in a music scene that has become increasingly average.
"Hands in the Sky EP" displays the vast potential of Fox Chase Drive. The opening track "Palindromic" is a vocal and guitar-driven synth-filled call to attention. Next up is "Steady Now", arguably the best Fox Chase Drive song to date. It is a tremendous ballad that is both dynamic and uplifting. Finishing up the 3 song EP is "Rainy Day", an energetic song which begs to be sung along with.
Fox Chase Drive has nothing but good things on the horizon with their new EP "Hands in the Sky"
Hope you're keeping well. Just stopped by to let you know I have a new tune on my MySpace profile called 'Turned Out Nice' - one of my experimental 'electronica' tracks (not quite sure which category to put it in lol). Hope you like!
