vulturesofvenus	2009/11/23 11:02 It's going to be a monster four band pile up on highway 666 as Vultures of Venus crash into the Birmingham on Thursday the 3rd of ..heir debut LP which is now available through I-Tunes has been receiving strong support and favorable reviews from local radio RRR, PBS and Syn Fm. It will also be available in hard copy on the night. This gig is gonna be fun, fun, fun on the Smith st autobahn. Armed with big rock riffs and blazing electrified keys this is the Vultures first show since their sellout LP Launch. This is a band with a plan; and that plan is to make you do the Can Can. Joining them on the night is Mirrorhouse Antics whos live show is a cross between the Arctic Monkeys and The Stooges. They have just released their debut album, recorded at Bakehouse by Mikey from Eddie Current Suppression Ring. Dan Webb's 60's styled Hammond infused insanity is gonna be something to look out for as well as the 'Wise Flys' : they'll make you laugh they'll make you cry, they'll make you laugh about crying. And don't forget to look out for the crazy clown pinyada filled with burning flesh and give away fun toys for the kids. This is a B.Y.O "leotard friendly event ". So pour yourself into your favorite and come on down !!!

Twelve months on, the three scrappy-looking lads have under their belts better songs, more gigs and are infecting Melbourne audiences with catchy, raw, stomp rock n roll pretty much weekly. So to mark the milestone of reaching the ripe old age of one, The Rubys are celebrating with a birthday party! With around 40 gigs down over the previous year and a wildly raucous live set, there has been a lot of jumping around and beer consumed so this Friday at the Old Bar will be no exception. Expect some wild blues-driven sets by The Volatiles and The Bellows to warm things up, and the boy’s favourite two-piece The Cheats bringing it all home. 8:30 start, $8, Party hats provided. Toy Balloon	2009/10/27 07:09 Toy Balloon Tour! Brisbane outfit Toy Balloon will release their debut album Toy Division on November 8 through Lofly Records, and to celebrate will perform an east coast launch tour throughout November. Formed in 2007, Toy Balloon was originally a fledgling two-piece made up by Nimai Etheridge’s uniquely melodic wall-of-sound guitar and Greg Cooper’s beautiful sequenced electronic compositions. The band have since matured into a four piece featuring Chloe Cooper (Mr Maps) on key boards and Ben Green on drums. The album was recorded and mixed at the Lofly Hangar in Brisbane, a DIY performance space that Toy Balloon has been an integral part of creating. Fostering emerging artists and left-of-centre music, the Hangar acts as a performance space, recording studio, and meeting place; and has resulted in a record with a rich, layered sound reminiscent of New Order, Mogwai, Boards of Canada, and LCD Soundsystem. Catch Toy Balloon launch Toy Division at a venue near you this Oct/ November. TOY BALLOON TOUR DATES: Brisbane- Thursday 29 October- The Zoo, Fortitude Valley w/ Moon Jog, Tin Can Radio and Doom Doom.
