Dolores is my REAL name! Born a very long time ago (when even bad music had some quality to it!!)...in the 'Ol Smoke', Londoner of mixed race background. By the time I was 16 years old I'd already survived racist bullying at school, violence at home, homelessness and poverty...and a short spell in care. I had problems with drug and drink addiction, but in those days we didn't have rehab and to be frank, none of us ever bragged about drug addictions... like 'artists' do these days!
Taught myself to type, to get out of poverty trap. I've had many jobs, including being a cleaner, waitress, shop assistant...then secretary, P.A. But I've only ever enjoyed my life when i've been able to be creative, or to perform, be it writing, dancing or singing. I wrote and published a slim volume of poetry in my early 20s, entitled 'Nightsong'. I was involved in many political campaigns in the 70s and 80s, and an active member of feminist groups like 'A Woman's Place'. I was also involved with Rock Against Racism. I was, for a very short while, a member of a 26 piece punk orchestra ... but maybe we'll draw a veil over that coz we were crap LOL. I'm featured on the ukrockfestival site, in the section about free festivals...I was at the infamous 'Windsor Free Festival' and a few others, when i was very young (just 14!). In my early 20s I was asked to sing on a dance record, but i had no confidence in myself and turned it down. I regret that now. But later on, at the age of 30 I took my first ever dance class...and 5 years later I was a critically acclaimed Oriental dancer! Just 2 years ago, I took my very first singing class. And a year later made my first demo!
I've been very ill with some serious health problems in the last 5 years...pneumonia several times, and i suffer badly with high blood pressure, and have had to be on drugs for this. But now that i'm finally doing what i've always wanted to do, I don't intend to let my disability stop me from achieving my dreams.
I'm very proud of myself for surviving all the traumas i've been through.
I'm glad to be alive.
I'm a singer with songs!
I'm Tall Talking
Got my own style

Hi Dolores Thanks for your lovely comment. I enjoyed listening to your myspace tracks and like you, absolutely love Neil Young. If I had to pick one singer he'd be it. Hope to meet you again sometime. I see Scaledown have been in touch with you. It's well worth playing there. I think it's one of the best and most eccelctic events in London. Best Wishes Roshi x
