Formed in the spring of 2001, the origins of Foxy Moon Baby began as a recording experiment between guitarist and composer Dennis Lippe, drummer Casey OConnor, and audio engineer Tom Campbell. Utilizing their in-depth knowledge of jazz harmony and rhythm, the trio composed songs with uncommon time and key signatures, driven by rock and funk beats, and a focus towards unique textures for each song. Eleven original songs, first slated for a Dennis Lippe solo album, were re-arranged and crafted to create a musical sound unique from the humdrum world of popular music.
Near the completion of the album, an opportunity was presented to debut this new and experimental material at Phishs IT Festival. From this opportunity, an 8-piece live band was formed consisting of a 3-piece horn section, dual guitars, and a veteran rhythm section of bass, drums, and percussion. The name created for this live band was Foxy Moon Baby.
With the success and national buzz generated from the It Festival, Foxy Moon Baby pushed into the live music scene establishing notable performances and rotations in venues throughout New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware, in addition to performing various festivals including Mayfair and the Doylestown Music & Arts Festival.
In early 2005, Foxy Moon Baby was compelled to relocate its operations to Bayville, NY from the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, causing a change in the bands original line-up of musicians. Continuing to strive for nothing less than excellence, FMB focused on obtaining only the best performers, and with the introduction of keyboards to the sound, the band has become more musically diversified, polished, and stronger than ever.
Foxy Moon Baby is currently expanding its performing territory throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, and is prospecting for a prominent record label to support an upcoming studio album. The band often releases its Foxy Moon Booties, an original live music series of FMB shows, and continues to perform in a rotation of venues throughout the Northeast.
