Influences
First and foremost, my parents, who got me listening to music at a very early age. My entire family has always supported my endeavours... I think my sister is still my 1 fan. Also, Dave Turner, an excellent musician & educator.
Then, of course, the people you might find on my cd player: Bird, Diz, Ella, Billie, Trane, Monk, Miles, Mingus and the rest of the jazz cats who are too numerous to name. Béla Fleck & The Flecktones, MMW, Courtney Pine, Branford's Buckshot Lefonque and others who are brave enough to audaciously mix and meld different genres. Digable Planets, Guru's Jazzmatazz, L.O.T.G and Black Star because I love good hip hop. The Beatles, Frank Zappa and King Crimson for doing something interesting with rock. King Tubby, Sly and Robbie, The Skatalites and the Easy Star All Stars when I'm feeling chill, Mozart, Bach and Chopin when I'm feeling intelligent, John Zorn when I'm feeling aggressive, Led Zeppelin when I feel like ROCKING! Danny Elfman when I'm feeling whimsical, Tom Waits when I'm feeling crazy... and any other musician that makes me feel something when I hear them. Then there are the authors: Kerouac, Hesse, Vonnegut, Hemmingway, Ondaatdje, Morrison ... probably more if I stop to think about it.
The Franco Proietti Morph-tet started as an idea to record a couple of songs, and perform them live using a laptop for beats, bass and other layers... it has since then grown into a band featuring anywhere between 5 and 10 musicians depending on the song or the gig. The almost constant flux of song style as well as line up on stage is the inspiration behind the band name. "Morphology", their first CD includes the obvious influences of jazz, hip hop and funk - but also ventures into the realms of atmospheric, cinematic sounding tunes as well as a chain gang song and an intriguing tale told over a spooky sounding waltz. The physical CD is now available for purchase at Indyish.com, by following this link: and if you want to download the cd, or just a song or two from it, you can find it on iTunes by clicking this link: and of course you can always buy a cd directly from us off the stage at any Morph-tet show... that always makes us happy!

We're still organizing ourselves but hopefully, it will happen sooner rather than later! I'll definitely keep you posted. I'm also working on a couple of fundraisers (one in Ottawa and another in Montreal) for the beginning of next year, both for the Philippines, so if you're interested...
SWEET, SWEET, SWEET show last night!!! CRAZY musicianship. Glad I made it and my mom enjoyed it, too! It was the first time we went out to see a concert together in a LOOONG minute. Sorry I didn't get to see you afterwards (it was late and my mom was pretty tired) so I just wanted to let you know we had a great time -- definitely worth the trip from Ottawa! Hope to see you again soon! mad love to you all, Olivia
Hey man, thanks for the kind words. I'll be putting up some more tracks soon enough. Nice to run into you the other day, however briefly! Hope the show was a blast!

So I was listening to the radio tonight (had the radio dial on Mix 96) and this cool new music segment came on at 6 p.m. It's called The Lounge King, and it plays every Sunday night at 6. The Lounge King showcases jazz bands all over the world, but with a flavour of funk, swing, hip-hop, "lounge"... you name it. It was refreshing to hear the sound of actual instruments and orchestra being played on the radio.
Anyhoo, my point? Well, when I came on Myspace, and listened to your song Lucky 13 on my profile page, I realized that your music would fit The Lounge King's music segment perfectly! What a great way to get your music out there too! Anyway, it's just a suggestion. Thought it would be cool to hear your music on the radio and on a cool music show too!
