"Hi Fredda. What nice songs you have!", read a note left by British musician Mr. Wright at Fredda's myspace-page, hitting the nail on the head. Fredda (whose real life name is Frédérique Dastrevigne) is certainly one of the most interesting new singer in the Nouvelle Scène Française movement. And yet she's been around for awhile. We first noticed her arresting presence on stage back in 2003 on a concert in Cologne, where she sang duets with her partner Pascal Parisot. Consequently Fredda and Parisot became part of Le Pop en duo ("Tout va bien"). The following year we featured Fredda's up-tempo hit "Les Copines d'abord" on Le Pop 3 as a world premiere. Since then the song has become a staple of our Le Pop-Parties and a guaranteed ice breaker for any dance floor. "Toutes mes aventures" is Fredda's first album; it was released in June 2007 on her own label in France.
"Toutes mes aventures" is a fascinating string of ten perfect timeless pop pearls. Ten irresistible melodies, carried by an enchanting voice, that features qualities rarely found in female French singers: Neither Lolita-style pop-breather nor dramatic chanteuse, Fredda sings with the confidence of a performer, who's learned her trade from scratch, and she plays the banjo. Pascal Parisot accompanies her on the piano and provides string and horn arrangements between New-Orleans-Dixie and Parisian Swing. Thus Fredda and Parisot reproduce the typically French division of author-composer and arranger – showcasing the stunning talents of the couple. It's no surprise then, that the string and horn arrangements are always much more then just an extra to the great song writing and singing talent of Fredda.
Well, she has been a singer now for some time. After singing and guitar tuition in diverse music schools she and her partner Pascal Parisot toured the bars of France for seven years. Her recording debut was as a background singer on Parisot's first album "Rumba". Together they founded Radiomatic and reaped some success in France and Japan with cover versions of Yéyé-classics of the 60s. While working with Parisot on stage and in the studio, Fredda kept writing her own chansons. And now it looks as if Frédérique Dastrevigne aka FREDDA has truly arrived.
Perhaps the most amazing aspect of this debut album: What sounds like an expensive production for a major label, was in fact produced and recorded on a very limited budget, proving that creativity and musical talent go a long way when combined with determination and perseverance. We at LePop are quite convinced: "Toutes mes aventures" won't be the last adventure in Fredda's solo career.

Avant d'arriver jusqu'aux chansons de Fredda il m'a fallu sonner chez boogaerts, taper l'incruste chez albin de la simone, avoir un coup de foudre chez le grand Parisot et m'inviter à la boum des radiomatics.Que de sinuosités de labyrinthe avant d'arriver au trésor... merci d'avoir accepté l'invitation. pierre
