BAND BIO
After nearly a dozen personnel rotations, thrash metal outfit Fueled By Fire
have fine-tuned their sound into an explosive act in the vein of '80s speed demons Slayer, Overkill , Testament and more . The group started their
humble beginnings in 2002, at the young age of 16 , when childhood
friends Carlos Gutierrez(Drummer) and, Sal Zepeda(Guitarist) started
jamming together, and decided they would put a full lineup together,
recruiting long time school friends, Rick Rangel – Guitar, Anthony Vasquez
– Bass, and Ray Fiero –Vocals. Soon realizing the direction they wanted to
take their musical sound it became apparent that Ray was not the right fit
for the band , they began a search for the right vocalist that would fit the
band and the sound they were striving to achieve. This would lead to the
addition of Gio Herrera, who also became the third guitarist for the band.
They immediately recorded their first demo and entitled ‘Life…Death…and FBF
in April 2004. Which was used to lock a gig at The Whiskey a GoGo the band gained momentum and built up a following playing show through out L.A. and surrounding areas selling out shows, playing along side Metal Heavy weights
such as Exodus, Municipal Waste, Forbidden, Hallows Eve, Hirax, Toxic Holocaust, Agent Steel, and many more? After the departure of guitarist Sal Zepeda the
four remaining member’s would continue as a four piece, The demand grew
for them to release more material, In May 2006 they recorded their first
full length album consisting of nine tracks entitled “Spread The Fire” which
was a self financed effort, it was released in September 2006 the album
gained world wide attention and also the attention of none other than
Brian Slagel founder of Metal Blade Records, who contacted the band
only one month after their release was out. They were signed to Metal Blade
in March of 2007 and “Spread The Fire” would be re-released in
August 2007, since the original release had already been distributed
world wide, It was decided that they would remix and re-master the
album and add two bonus tracks to change it up a bit. Which was
done by Mr. Joey Vera of Armored Saint. Within only one month of
their album being released with Metal Blade, Gio quit the band and they
began the search for another vocalist/guitarist, Rick would now become
the lead vocalist and they recruited guitarist, Chris Monroy. They soon
began to tour with this current lineup, in December 2007 headlining a
West Coast tour with bay area speed metaler’s Scarecrow as the supporting
act, in addition to playing some gig’s in Mexico, they were soon invited to
perform at the”Keep It True” festival in Germany that was followed by a European tour as the headliner in April 2008 and in July 2008 on a full U.S.
tour as direct support to M.O.D. The future is bright for “Fueled By Fire”
as they continue to build on the fan base and gear up as headliner for their European Tour in May/June 2009.
With their return to the recording studio to record their next album and
US and another European tour in the works for the remainder of the year… Fueled By Fire is making a name for themselves, developing a fan base
thats growing every time they hit the stage. KEEP AN EYE OUT!!!
