The gift of music is not given lightly and definitely not given to the unworthy. Picture this scenario; you’re an artist in search of the “right” beat. You are elated to find a soulful melodic blend with a touch of jazz and a series of drums fashioned in an unmistakable new age hip hop pattern. Not only does this blend make your feet tap, but commands your eyes to close and transcend into another place. A more peaceful time when music was in its sweetest form, raw and free. You have just listened to a Fundamental Production. In the same non-pretentious manner of his music, Fundamental delivers sincere and easy conversation as he describes his creations.
Beyond producer and arranger, Toronto native Fundamental is an architect of song. He laces his production with heavy bass lines, piercing synths and strong rhythmic beat drops that create the perfect foundation to inspire masterpieces. Inspired by heavy hitting producers like, J Dilla, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, The Neptunes and Raphael Saadiq, the young producer draws from even older influences such as Grover Washington Jr., The Stylistics and Minnie Ripperton to create his unique sound.
He is one half of the group “Good Company” (with Ayatollah Jaxx) and a foundational member of the Civil Mics Movement (a hip-hop collaborative that consists of artists from across the globe brought together by their love of meaningful hip-hop). Fundamental has worked with up and coming artists such as O.N.E. Jones (L.E.G.A.C.Y. & S.I.N. Music), Arafat Yates (M1 Platoon), and Carlitta Durand (Little Brother’s “Life of the Party” & “After the Party”). Currently, he is continuing his work with hip hop’s freshest rookie, G5 Clive, as well as finishing up the Good Company debut EP. Last but not least, Fundamental is officially working on the long awaited album with fellow Civil Mics member, Nelace.
His solid appreciation of music and the traditional elements keep Fundamental in demand by singers to emcees alike. Yet it’s his youthful twist on classics that have him booked solid on offerings by some of music’s best-kept secrets and budding stars. His clients are diverse, which is a compliment to his versatility. If music is the tie that binds, Fundamental is the indication that music is about to get a whole lot tighter.

Fundamentals new stuff sucks his best bet would be to get back together with his long time friend and collaborator (Twist) and reignite the Civil Mics Movement. Cause what im hearing on the playlist right now its a bunch of watered down poor produced crap.

Yes, for me its everyday, but the rest of the world doesn't hear solos 4m my sacred book of rhymes lol. Im in the lab, got stuff in the works; some features I'm waiting 2 finish so nothing for the public yet, but i'm all about anticipation anyway...much better 2 build n take time :] what bout u??
