Solo acoustic guitar with effects and vocals. As well as playing my own music i have spent the last 2 years touring with Vashti Bunyan as her guitarist. Debut album "Spruce Goose" was released in 2005. Since then i have released music with Lo Recordings, Benbecula Records, Polymorphic and Unlabel among others and toured the UK supporting Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan.
"From Glasgow, this beautiful music arrived in June 2005. A solo artist singing and playing acoustic guitar - sometimes effected, his songs slip between a beautifully sparse, emotive fragility (recalling Nick Drake, Bert Jansch, etc.) and denser instrumentals (recalling Eno or Labradford). Very cool stuff." Fatcat Records.
"Where Dickson excels is with his unique use of the guitar as a sound making body. A glorious object in which to explore rich landscapes, the drone in song, and acoustic ambience. This is beautiful music, music in the act of levitation, a ghostly presence; almost tangible but never within reach." Mark Harwood for Polymorphic Music
"The Gareth Dickson CD is beautiful celtic inflected folk guitar which at times reminds me of a less slide guitary Paris Texas soundtrack (Ry Cooder). It's absolutely beautiful regardless of what I think it sounds like. Norman Records Distribution."
"Introspective, tender, experimental and blissful.... manages to satisfy both the fans of folk and of experimental music. An awesome record! (Polymorphic Sampler)." Phlow Magazine. To hear it free go to: http://www.polymorphic-music.co.uk/releases/16-gareth-dickson-sampler

Hi and best wishes from Fruits de Mer Records, a very-small-but-almost-perfectly-formed new psych/folk/prog rock label.
Keep checking out our site for old and new videos, all the latest on our first release (The Small Faces' 'Ogden's Nut Gone Flake' meets Van der Graaf Generator's 'Theme One' - both by the brilliant Schizo Fun Addict - out now as a very limited coloured vinyl pressing, just 300 copies worldwide)
PLUS early news on our next two projects: Mellow Candle's Alison O'Donnell - with new versions of classic Nico and Nick Drake songs ('Frozen Warnings' + 'Day is Done')...and Spanish neo-psych band 'Stay' - covering tracks by The Rolling Stones ('2,000 Light Years'), Graham Nash ('Chicago') and Strawberry Alarm Clock ('Rainy Day, Mushroom Pillow').
Again, both releases will be very limited, colour vinyl issues.
