Sounds Like
A giant tarantula dancing with a woman in slow motion
Gato Loco screams it's way through latin jazz while incorporating free-improv, delicate textures, and dense compositions. Formed in 2005, The Gato Loco Litter have been aggressively mixing genres into a latin-based synthesis of the NYC sounds of the new millenium. The group has formed several ensembles, birthed out of the same focused intensity and genre-bending excitement.................................................................................................................................
De Bajo -- Like a woman slow-dancing a tarantula, De Bajo is lust, passion, love, betrayal and hope; music felt before its heard —guttural, sad and slow. Traditional Cuban music played with bass saxophone, tuba, baritone guitar, upright bass, and congas. "The ULTIMATE low-end band” (lucidculture.com).

To hear Coconino is to feel what it must have been like in those days when a travelling circus came to your backwater town; suddenly, out of the dust, there is a promise of mystery, pageantry, eroticism and violence. Seduced by the sharp edges of this relentlessly driving 12-piece dance band, you catch glimpses of impossible places, impossible times. “It is rare to hear music that makes you want to dance and whose arrangements are also a marvel of invention.” (Bruce Gallagher, DowntownMusicGallery.com)..................................................................................................................................
The Quiet Band. Meditative and transcendental; beautiful and sad, peaceful and fiery. A chamber group that’s drunk on wine, performing on street corners and summer rooftops, disheveled in last night’s tuxedo. An unnusual instrumentation of violin, cello, harp, clarinet & bass clarinet, the group calls inspiration equally from Debussy and The Talking Heads, bringing their music into bars, clubs, and good times. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cuatro -- a circus-cabaret cartoon-jazz quartet, the group premiered their original musical, "Mumbo", a burlesque-circus opera centered around the legendary story of Jumbo, the infamous elephant of Barnum & Bailey's Circus in the 19th C. They premiered the 1 1/2 hour piece during a 6-night highly-successful run at the Baltimore Theater Project in the spring of 2009. The piece was a collaboration with circus/burlesque performers Trixie Little & The Evil Hate Monkey, as well as writer/satirist Bradford Scobie.
