Greetings from Poznań and Montreal (November 3, 2009)!!!!
Love and Respect to all Roots reggae Lovers all around the world!
We’ve got a pleasure to announce that the joint forces of Gedeon Jerubbaal and Inity Dub Mission are back in Poland with a plan to undertake yet another roots & dub mission in their old but vibrating country. The band which was one of the first to enter the emerging Polish reggae scene in the early 1980s and proved to be crucial in defining the unique sound of the East European Roots is preparing yet another series of shows in clubs, bars, pubs and Winter fests that will start in November 2009 and finish at the end of January 2010.
As was the case in the previous years (the Summer seasons, in fact), the actual line-up is based on a powerful riddm section of Inity Dub Mission (the best dub reggeae posse West of the Greenwich median), supported by the lungs and minds of Jah Brass, and led by a charismatic Gedeon’s original co-founder, composer, writer and singer Symeon Ruta, all of them coming from Poznań, the capital of the Western district of Wielkopolska, close to the German border.
The band’s last year great performances at several Summer Reggae Fesstivals (like Ostróda, Gorzów and Ostrów) will be difficult to top in terms of spectacle, charisma and importance, but this Fall/Winter shows in smaller indoor venues may prove unique in giving both the audience and the band a rare sence of sharing, directness, sincerity and intimacy.
As a souvenir of the previous tour, for all the fans who remember 2008 Ostróda Reggae Fest, Gedeon Jerubbaal is preparing a release of the live version of the show which will be followed by a studio material recorded last year at Radio Afera Studio in Poznań. A feature length documentary from the 2007 Summer Tour was published with the Spring 2008 issue of Free Colours magazine (FC9, July’08) and became an immediate hit among the aficionados. At the same time, Symeon Ruta’s short story collection “Moje trzy wina z Siulą” (“My Three Wines with Siula”) – a mix of document and fiction from Gedeon’s turbulent 1980’s past – was published by a Warsaw editing house Jirafa Roja. The book is as tripping and good as it’s controversial. For the time being, in Polish only.
This year action starts on Saturday (Nov.7) in Eskulap club in Poznań and will probably end with the annual Aid for Africa Fest in Toruń at the end of January.
The list of dates and venues will be updated along the way.
See you there then,
In the meantime, you can enjoy some clips of the classic tunes as well as some recent live performances on several websites dedicated to Reggae in Poland (look either for Gedeon Jerubbaal or Symeon Ruta & Inity Dub Mission)
