Barrio Tiger is an L.A. 4 piece whose gimmick is Rock and Roll! Our lineup on any given night may include former or current members of Qui, The Hangmen, The Starvations, or even Guzzard and Helmet. Formerly known as Thee L.A. Gentlemen Callers, Barrio Tiger recalls the song craft of Paul Weller, Robert Pollard, and Uncle Tupelo and filters it through the bombast of bands like Dead Boys, Jawbreaker, and Dinosaur Jr. In so doing, we carry the torch of rock and roll with beer soaked intensity not felt since the days when the Replacements stole your heart. Barrio Tiger's newest effort, a 5 song e.p entitled "The Kindness Of Strangers" was recorded at Steve Albini's Electrical Audio studios in Chicago, IL and produced by Manny Nieto, known to those in the know as frontman for the mighty Distortion Felix. Manny has recorded Circle Jerks, Mars Volta, the Breeders, Darker My Love, among a big roster of great L.A. bands. It was mastered by Mark Chalecki at Capitol Mastering. Three of the four songs on this page are from this recording, as well as a video for a fourth if you click on the video chingadera. Calixto, thanks for hosting me this weekend. But I can't forgive you for making me like LA. It was so much easier to hate LA. Now I gotta be tempted to move there.
I can't tell you how pissed and disappointed I was this weekend. It was so frustrating being 2 hours away and completely unable to get there. I hope that the show was great last night. Lets try again sometime this summer.
