Nome d’arte: GI KALWEIT
Georgeanne Kalweit nasce nel 1964 a Minneapolis, nel Minnesota.
Il suo percorso artistico spazia dall’arte alla musica.
Viene in Italia per la prima volta nel 1986 per studiare a Firenze.
Nel 1990 si laurea in Pittura, incisione e Storia dell’Arte all’universita’ di Minneapolis. 1990-1995 diventa cantante del gruppo funk Milanese I “Mo Stipiti Funk” .
1995-2000 si e' dedicata al lounge-jazz col gruppo “Torch Porch“ a Los Angeles.
Dipinge opere figurative ad’olio e crea opere di tecnica mista, composizioni coloratissime, piene di materiale di ricupero e densi di particolari. L’influenza di certa arte popolare centroamericana, unita ad una carica ironica e giocosa determinano un piccolo universo, tra pop e la psichedelia, in cui si ritrovano ricordi e rimandi pubblici e privati. Ha esposto a Milano, Firenze, Mantova, Parma, Stresa, Verbania, Londra, Los Angeles e Minneapolis.

2006-2007
•“Felici e Cantanti” (audiolibro di fiabbe in uscita Aprile 2007 per la casa editrice Fabbri). Interprete per il progetto del Istituto Barlumen, testo e musica di Luca Gemma.
•The Dining Rooms. Ha scritto e interpretato due brani in Inglese, “Ink“ e “Hear Us Now“ nel prossimo disco intitolato “Ink“ (uscita Marzo 2007, Schema Records). Si sono esibiti insieme ad Amsterdam, Seoul e a Milano in 2006 e a Mosca in 2007.
•“Noise Mass“. Ha cantato nel coro di performance art music opera di musicista-cantante-chitarrista New Yorkese-Brasiliano Arto Lindsay. Prima mondiale al Teatro Oltremare di Napoli Dicembre 2006, a Reggio Emilia e a Milano nelle chiese per la rassegna Musica dei Cieli, Ponderosa Musica.
•“Herculaneum“ di Dj Pandaj. Ha scritto e interpretato due brani in Ingelse nel disco “The Room“ e “Obscurity“, uscita 2007.
•“Tutta Donna" con Calibro 35. Giugno, 2009.
•“Around the Edges" dei Kalweit and the Spokes (www.myspace.com/kalweitandthespokes), progetto alternative country rock, post punk insieme a Leziero Rescigno, drums e organ e Giovanni Calella, guitar.

Visual artist and vocalist Georgeanne Kalweit was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1964 and currently resides in northern Italy.
Georgeanne first came to Italy in 1986 to study Art History in Florence. In 1990 she graduated from the University of Minnesota in Painting, Print-making and Art History and that same year started singing as lead vocalist with the Milanese group Mo’ Stipiti Funk until 1995. In Los Angeles Georgeanne sang in a lounge-jazz group called Torch Porch from 1997-2000 while working as an art instructor at the Los Angeles County Museum, the Barnsdall Art Park and for the Los Angeles Unified Schools.
Georgeanne paints figurative oil paintings as well as mixed media pieces created out of recycled images and objects, multi-layered compositions of a social-political nature which are full of extremely colorful details with a slight Central American Art Influence, a mix between pop and psychedelia, ironic and playful at the same time. She has shown in Florence, Milan, Mantova, Parma, Stresa Italy, London, Los Angeles and Minneapolis.

•“Felici e Cantanti” (childrens fairy tale audio-book, release date April, 2007 for Fabbri Editors). Vocalist for the project by the Istituto Barlumen, lyrics and music by Luca Gemma.
•The Dining Rooms. Wrote and sang two songs in English: “Ink“ and “Hear Us Now“ on the album titled “Ink“ (release date Marzo 2007, Schema Records). The Dining Rooms’ music is included in the soundtracks of CSI, Sex In The City and Six Feet Under. They performed together in Amsterdam, Seoul, Korea and Milan in 2006 and Moscow in 2007.
•“Noise Mass“. Sang in the chorus of the performance art music piece by New York-Brazilian musician-singer-guitarist, Arto Lindsay. World premier at the Oltremare Theatre in Naples, Italy Dec. 2006, in Reggio Emilia and in Milano in churches for the Musica dei Cieli series, Ponderosa Musica.

Georgeanne is currently working on her solo project in Milan, works as a DJ.

L'album d'esordio dei Controluce dal titolo "Aprile" vede la partecipazione e produzione artistica di Lele Battista. E' in uscita il 6 Novembre per Novunque/Self.
