Send me an IM! Perhaps a big chunk of information related to food, politics, art, music and counterculture presented here might seem strange or unfamiliar, if the response is yes do yourself a favor and Google.com these terms, You can also use en.Wikipedia.org, AkPress.org, vegan.org, youtube.com and even amazon.com to learn more, remember you are just a click away to find your answers.

I'm interested in cross-culturalism, urban marketing, youth trend analysis, fashion for action sports and the music industry. It is important for me to support art shows, live music, the club-dance electronic scene, and inspire others, share knowledge and resources. I enjoy teaching, travelling and lecturing and riding bikes. I'm into visual arts, photography, graphic design, illustration. Sharpie in hand, I'm always sketching and when I have the right tools I like etching, carving and cutting tons of stencils and thinking about bikes. I do silkscreen printing for a living, I'm intrigued by vintage printing methods like the Chandler printer and moveable metal type, mimeographs and Gocco, I get excited about playing with Xerox machines and experimenting with old school tricks, finding messed up rubber stamps and making my own hand carved stamps. I have a collection of handmade books and a shitload of fanzines from all over the world. I'm into free will, living simply, free thinking/no stinking. I've been a skateboarder since 1978, but I'm getting too old for it so I'm mostly riding bikes throughout the city of San Diego. According to Ray Johnson and the New York Correspondence School, I'm a Networker, I'm interested in Fluxus, the Situationist movement, Dada, Surrealism, Propaganda, Visual Poetry, Constructivism, Pop Art, Graffiti, Street Art and obviously Anarchism, Nihilism, Bike-ism, liberal, leftist stuff and anything in between. My life is about intensity-workaholism-hyperactivity-multi tasking-D.I.Y. I'm fueled by loud harsh electro-punk beats and a Vegan and gluten free diet...and my bikes are Vegan too.

I eat organic foods as much as possible. Here's a quick list of some of my favorites (more to come)
Vegetables: Brussel sprouts, any kind of sprouts, pickled artichoke hearts, palmitos, edible bamboo, onions, leeks, scallions, peppers, chiles of course! huitlacoche, shitake, portobello and several other fancy mushrooms, asparagus, celery sticks, nopales (cactus leaves), broccoli, couli flower, radish, corn, squash blossoms, arugula, carrots, beets, cilantro, rhubarb, watercrest, spinach, bok choi, napa cabbage etc

Fruits: I recently discovered Goji berries! I love grapes, kiwi, tamarind, olives, cherries, coconuts, plums, jicama, bananas, pomme granates, apples, oranges, grape fruit, tangerines, nectarines, avocados, comquats, watermelons, mangoes, any berries, prickly pears, figs, quince and any kind of dry fruit.

Seeds, grains, cereals: All kinds of beans, edamame, fava and garbanzos are delicious, spelt, quinoa, millet, amaranth, tapioca, sunflower seeds, flax, pine nuts, cashews, almonds (But not Marc Almond really), I'm sucker for wild rice, rice-rice baby!

Herbs: Rosemary, lavender, oregano, basil rocks!, cilantro.. wait is there life without cilantro?! lemon grass, ginger, sage, sage is damn rad! I'm getting to like mint and I can handle dill better than I did before etc

About Mocks, fake meats and other vegan processed foods: Most of this food items are Gluten, (wheat) based and or hydrogenated Soy products that at some point could be just as bad as any regular junk food. I'm not a big fan of fake mozarella, bacon or fake sausages but I'd eat them from time to time.

Honey: Yes dear? Ah I do (RARELY I MEAN RARELY) eat food where some honey is used ie gluten free cereal or cookies. It's hard already to find Vegan and Gluten free items in some places. I do eat honey for medicinal purpouses to fight or prevent colds etc. BUT since I discovered Agave Nectar I'm using it.

About leather items, wool and fur: I don't buy or wear items like leather jackets or leather belts. I don't own anything with fur, silk, sea shells on it. Skateboard and bike riding shoes are mostly leather unfortunately . It is also hard to find good bike shoes that aren't leather. Vans Slip Ons, perhaps? Combat and punk rock boots, I haven't bought a pair since 1991! I try not to support that industry, however working for skateboard companies it's easy for me to get skate shoes without paying for them. I personally love Adidas Samba for riding Fixed Gear bikes, they fit so perfectly on the pedal toe clips unfortunately these shoes aren't vegan neither are the straps or the bike gloves. There are some companies that offer Vegan-Vegetarian shoes with hemp or organic cotton, canvas and other sturdy synthetic materials that actually comfortable and breath just ok. If you are interested please go to: Vegetarian shoes
Being Vegetarian or Vegan requires a lot of commitment, research and life experience, not to mention money. I made a conscious decision to be a vegan for life and it works for me so far. It has been difficult to find balance between budget and lack of cooking skills but so far I'm still standing strong. My advice to you is: Don't choose the vegetarian - vegan path if that makes you miserable, that is not the point, I'm Vegan because Veganism works for me, I do belive in whats the best for my body, the animals and the environament, and the politics of agriculture. Food is also medicine in the persue of health, happiness and well being. Like anything in life it requires a special effort and commitment. If you are interested in changing your diet try ovo-lacto vegetarian and see how you feel, experiment with new foods and let your body gradually respond to them.

..

I appreciate world cuisine: Mexican, Italian, Thai, Chinesse, Middle Eastern, Greek...I don't really care much for Japanese * or German food, (* With the exception of VEGAN SUSHI). but I'd willing to give it a second chance. I'm into holistic medicine, currently going gluten, peanuts and dairy free with a moderate intake of soy products. Look at the Vegan-vegetarian food I ate picts!

Foods I have issues with: sauerkraut, fresh sage, pickles, dijon mustard, horseradish, wasabi, rye, chocolate and mint together...I cannot stand the feel of that in my mouth...man, I've tried them several times but they're like Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin or The Doors...I know they're good, but I just don't like them.

Food cooked with beer or wine...please just don't do it. Not for me! My body has very little tolerance for alcohol (even Nyquil fucks me up) and or fermented foods.

I love fruit smoothies, Thanks to Alex Kogan for the bad ass blender, been making mad Vegan smoothies!

Acamonchi rule of thumb for understanding eating habits:
1) Look at the place
2) Look at the food
3) Look at the people eating it
What do you see and how do you feel?

>> I am drug, alcohol and smoke FREE since 1970!

I won't call myself ..Straight Edge, sXe, xXx.. because I like caffeine but I still listen to old school Straight Edge bands like Minor Threat, Uniform Choice, Youth of Today, Doggy Style and 7 Seconds and by listening to their lyrics I reinforce my clean-sober responsible living!, I am a >>"Teetotaler"<< as described by Shanna Trenholm months ago.

I using the words "Fucking Hate" ball sports or any sports with uniforms, but it's true, I dislike rules and team sports very much. Do you care about sports? Play them! Can't play any? Then sponsor them! Don't just sit around being distracted by the media and consuming their crap!

Style: I'm ok with fashion as a form of self expression, I like dreadlocks, cool stylish, punky and offbeat hairdoos, intriguing tattoos, piercings, scarcifications, brandings, body modifications. etc I'm pro-choice, pro-animal rights and certantly anti-guns.

Although I'm a responsible bike rider shit happens sometimes, So If I get hit, killed by a car while riding my bike please play: "Asleep" by The Smiths and the whole "Status Negative" CD by Diagram of Suburban Chaos, Also note my comments and views on Spirituality, Do not bring Christianity in any form to my name otherwise I'll come back haunt your ass in the middle of the night. This life to me is just a transition point, Merely for love and respect to life, for myself and others I'm learning how to live life without attachments and fear, keep it simple yet meaningful.

I'd say that I gravitate to being an amateur feminist. I'm interested in Waldorf education and home-schooling. I'm spiritually connected and in tune with my feelings. I'm getting to know more of the Unitarian Universalists. I'd call myself "Pagan" or into the "Shamanic path", but I guess I'm not there yet but I'm working on it... so BLESSED BE!

Nini Binoche Super Cat!I love all animals but especially cats of all kinds and I love the people that loves them too. Are you a cat freak? hit me up!

As far as geography and socio-cultural environaments, I love Tijuana and I love Mexico City. In general, I enjoy travelling all over the world, Mexico: Baja, Sonora, Chihuahua, Zacatecas, Guadalajara, Oaxaca, Veracruz, Guanajuato, Puebla, so far across the U.S., Arizona, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Burlington, Chicago, Wisconsin, Texas and Florida, In Canada, I've been to Toronto and Vancouver and I loved both cities! Heard wonderful things about Montreal. I've been to Spain, but just Madrid and Zaragoza, missed Valencia and dying to go to Barcelona. Got plans for more travelling in the future as I love meeting people. Buy my art or hire me to design stuff for you so I can keep the travelling going.

I collect car shaped Avon perfume bottles (decanters), some old Star Wars toys, vinyl records that mostly are early 80's pop, hard core, punk and industrial (Wax Trax Records!).

I'm not a DJ and I will never be one.

I love Apple computers, X-Acto knives and spray paint (Molotow, Krylon, Montana, Montana Gold, Rusto, Painters Touch, etc.), I'm really into staying up late mostly working.,lately I've been riding bikes in large groups. Let's change that to: "I'm more sociable now with my bike friends!"

Make your "r->>evolution<< effective" get involved in community activities. Share your knowledge, get your hands dirty, ride a bike, expose yourself to criticism, be a challenge, challenge others, convey thoughts, lead and kick ass! (Repeat!)

I'm taking the 4 agreements seriously, I'm really serious about not beign serious. I like The Secret and what it stands for, Ask-Belive + Receive..

Proud loud Mexican! mix of Spaniard, Chinesse, Yaqui and possibly Pai Pai indian. I'm not affiliated to any groups or tribes but I'm not ashamed to talk about my roots. Are you?!

Mex comedy: Ensalada de Locos, Los Polivoces, La Carabina de Ambrosio, Mexico Magia y Encuentro. I do watch clips online like SNL. If I'm travelling I'll hit the remote to get The Cartoon Network. I love cartoons like Ren and Stimpy, Beavis and Butthead, The Pink Panther. I ocassionally enjoy some PBS shows like the Antique Roadshow, Nova and Secrets of the Death, that shit will give you the chills for sure, lots of cool facts about world history and bizarreness. Cooking shows are interesting too. I love watching Jaques Pepin, that fucker really knows how the water boils, everything he does is cooked to perfection. If the word SNOB would have a last name would have to be Pepin. Martin Yang is funny, he'll deep fry your ass and bang you'll be all done. Julia Childs used to cook with a lot of butter, loved her funny voice, she used to wheeze a lil too much, yeah when you're asthmatic dairy will clog your lungs, look at the things you can learn on TV!

So stay away from it and get your hands into something productive. Is there something I should watch?, Like what?
BooksADHD keeps me from concentrating, and I have a hard time sitting down to read, but when I can, I try to read political stuff, humanitarian, health and enviromental articles and ethics. But if I sit down to read, my attention goes to art history, biographies, world history, subcultures and countercultures, contemporary art movements, propaganda, graffiti and street art, geometry, graphic design, typography, color theory, etc. I've tried a couple of audio books, and they work just fine. I enjoy coffee table books, art books, design books, I also like conceptual, handmade object books/book objects. I keep an eye out for interesting technical manuals, how-to manuals, biographies and art-pop culture, cheesy science fiction, B-movies, world history and other books to scan, reference design stuff or just might feed my very own morbid curiosity like limb and prosthetic catalogs anything that has medical disasters and other random calamities, serial killers, articles by R.U. Syrius, stuff about the Church of the Subgenious, Burning Man, pretty much all the books edited by RE/Search, and the books I've seen in the AK Press catalog. I love the Anarchist bookstore Bound Together in San Francisco. I also like to read the rants of Ray Loriga, Hey I did read Tony Hawk: Occupation Skateboarder, it was fun, read half of the book at Tower Records. I like magazines like Mondo 2000, Factsheet 5, Ray Gun, Alarma, Flipside, MRR, Industrial Nation, Sideline, Thrasher, Juxtapoz, Print and How Design.

Some books that had in a way influenced or changed my life: The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, Laberinto de la Soledad from Octavio Paz, The Teachings of Don Juan by Carlos Castañeda, Eric Fromm, commentaries and essays by Noam Chomsky and Bertold Bretch, Subway Art, Dr Seuss, The Giving Tree, Mafalda. Being Mexican, I've got to say Rius fucking rocks. I'm mostly into reading magazines or even fanzines...as you might know, fanzines (or zines) are domestic, limited run, homemade/Xeroxed magazines. I also like stuff by Pagan Kennedy.

Some of my favorite books are: You don't Have to Fuck People Over to Survive, Dada Manifestos, Subway Art, The Book of Zines, Scrawl, Dirt, Stencil Graffiti, Stencil Pirates, Subway Art, The Art of Getting Up and Over, The Album Art of Punk, Fucked up and Photocopied, Sensacional de Diseño, This is Tijuana, Sensoria From Censorium, Ways of Seeing, Como suicidarse sin maestro, La Panza es primero and La revolucioncita Mexicana. Based on this subjects, suggest me a magzine, fanzine, newspaper or book I should be reading.

Anyhow, I keep on reading as much as my patience allows me.

Is anybody really reading this? If you read this part please email me . I'd like to hear from you or leave a comment if you will.

About me:
Being in harmony with all my contradictions is key.

Acamonchi lives and creates by example. There is no separation between his creations & actions, and his feelings about art, food, spirituality, and life. But he does not preach to those around him. Rather, his influence is felt naturally in the everyday. Simply put in his own wise words, "everyone finds truth on its own."

- Sanctuary 143

Arre, Acamonchi, arre.

-rafa saavedra
You may know Acamonchi is a species of flower that grows freely between cracks in the sidewalks. Some cities have targeted this perennial directly and enacted 'weed killer' campaigns to quell concerns with incongruent urban landscapes in affluent communities, sparking a national dialogue in regards to feral plants. Often ignored, stepped and sometimes pissed on by local dogs and miscreants, its beauty lies beyond the vibrant colors of his petals, rather, deep beneath the concrete surface it remains hidden in his roots.

You could know Acamonchi in reference to a North American pigeon, often seen huddled together in groups on cold mornings atop the telephone cables or scrambling for bits of food. The natives revered this silent augur of the bird world as Acamonchi - or "Wise Eye Above," and as recent archaeological excavations in the Pacific South Bay have revealed artifacts that indicate these animals were exalted as deities and kept as pets by local tribe leaders.

You might also Acamonchi as I know him; friend, mentor and collaborator. Like a flower I've watched him grow year in and out, and like the icon of the pigeons that loom from above I've witnessed his wisdom manifest itself on canvas, wood and cardboard.
Boldly stated, Acamonchi's messages are conveyed in a righteous rigidity that could be only his own. Never a waste of space, everything fits (even when it probably shouldn't) and always has its place. His work is relative only to itself, and within the spectrum of his creations lies a universe of color, value and essence.

Acamonchi is a war cry for truth in a world of lies and greed - a simple act of freedom that makes a statement like no other. But freedom comes with its price, as the artist can sometimes be a slave to the freedoms represented in his art.
More than the pedals he pushes, more than the ex-rocker attitude of a skater punk all grown up, Acamonchi is testament of what we could all achieve through commitment and an astute work ethic. He is the product of complete dedication to craft, abandon of convention in an effort to streamline his consciousness to continue creating.

- Angelo Gastelum aka El Poeta
