These guys write insanely catchy pop-punk anthems and nowhere is that better exemplified than in their recently released EP titled simply "3." You can stream all four tracks on Direct Hit's bandcamp page and if you like what you hear (we're pretty sure you will) you can start anxiously awaiting EP 4 with the rest of us. -DyingScene.com
“1” is a Jagged, Jarring and frequently upbeat hard edged New Wave album, nevertheless bristled with hits, both commercial and cultural. “Buy me a drink“ and “We are alone“ offer escape to the current punk movement’s aloof flocks with a sound unlike the masses. The whole thing is cut with such numbingly widescreen oomph that, even with the volume down, this EP shakes the foundations with upbeat toe tapping ballads. Several bands since the early 80’s have been trying to accomplish this edgy Brit-Wave punk sound that Direct Hit has been able to bull’s-eye on their first try. 1 is a quick hitting teaser EP (5 Songs; 11min 20sec) that is over as soon as you get into it and leaves you yearning for more. -punkrockreview.org
Direct Hit's zippy, clean-around-the-edges songs are testaments to brevity, breezing by in just two or three minutes, all hooks and bridges, no filler. In that respect, they're throwbacks to the mid-'90s, Warped Tour-ready SoCal pop-punk of Epitaph and Lookout! Records, albeit without the adolescent humor or beginner's politics that sometimes marred punk from that era. -Shepherd Express
Pop-punk outfit Direct Hit started out as a side project for Nick Woods of Madison-Milwaukee band The Box Social. But when the Social broke up last year, Woods decided to devote more attention to Direct Hit, carrying on with the rambunctious guitar rock of his former band. The group has already released two digital EPs called 1 and 2, and plans to follow up with 3 in fall and 4 and 5 in winter. Woods likens the gradual roll out of new material to comic books, “but with more flagrant self-promotion.” Actually, the comic-book comparison is spot-on for a band bursting with color and youthful exuberance.- Decider/Milwaukee
ok clear your schedule for the next year and a half. after the singles comp. that fucked up is releasing, they are doing a split with NOFX, then the year of the ox, then a bunch of 7" splits, THEN another full length. this band is no good. hope we never see them again
you make a convincing proposition, but i'm afraid i will have to refuse.... just stuff you, your band and all your equipment into an envelope ... that only costs like a dollar
dont ever send me another text about fucked up. i hate that band, i hate their music, and i hate you. i quit and i never want to hear about direct doo doo again...................see you at practice
we will probably play last. amen will probably play 2nd as they be sharing gear and a member with truck stops. hope you can make it out for a little bit!
no air mattress. you get the floor. and you'll like it. because you'll be blacked out. and i'm going to smoke a bowl using your half-dead carcass as my ottoman. you will also like that.
