The Italian singer and songwriter Giada Valenti is
recognized for her special voice and her sensual stage presence. In 2004 her
music got serious interest from music industry professionals in New York. This
inspired her to move in the summer of that same year from Europe to the United
States. In December 2005 Giadas new CD Italian Signorina was released in the
USA. This CD got attention of the major record label Universal Music and she is
now serious talking about a signing with them. Recently producer Sonny
Grosso and musical director Phil Ramone selected Giada for a role the upcoming
Broadway musical Be My Love, based on the life story of the famous tenor Mario
Lanza. The new CD features the song Caruso that Giada performed in
October 2005 on the Red Carpet at the Columbus Day Parade in New York City,
which was broadcasted live by NBC4. For the her new CD Giada made also a
wonderful new interpretation of the song Quando, Quando, Quando, which is the
favorite song of her parents; they danced for the first time on this tune. With
the song Italian Signorina Giada is what you could call a signature song, where
she tells more about her self, but it is also a song for all Italian(-American)
women in the US. The CD is partly recorded in Europe and partly in New
York. The music is recorded in one of the best studios of Denmark. And the
vocals are recorded in the famous Quad Studios in New York. She worked together
for this CD with the Scandinavian producer Joachim Hejslet Jorgensen, with whom
she wrote also some songs for this CD. Giada dedicates the CD Italian
Signorina to two great Italian American heroes, two brothers who died on 9-11
trying to save the lives of others: Fire Fighter John T. Vigiano and Detective
Joseph V. Vigiano. Giada met the parents of these two servicemen in April of
2005 at one of her performances. The story of Mr. and Mrs. Vigiano made such an
impression on her. Giada has her apartment near Ground Zero in New York and
thinks about the John and Joseph Vigiano every time she passes the former WTC.
As their beautiful parents requested her, she will pray for them and will never
forget! Giada is already working her next CD. A full CD with twelve
songs with more Italian, American and Neapolitan standards. The music on this CD
will have again a nice elegant pop-jazz sound. With the repertoire of
her new CD and other famous Italian and American standards Giada also created a
wonderful show, that she will start to tour in 2006. In this show she takes her
audience on a virtual trip to Italy. She sings songs that were once performed by
legends as Dean Martin, Perry Como, Connie Francis and Frank Sinatra, but then
in her own way, with new arrangements. As introduction of the songs Giada tell
nice stories (anecdotes) about Italy and her own life. Giada is born
and raised in Venice, Italy. She started to sing and play piano at the age of 7.
And she was already touring professionally with a band at the age of 12. She
studied piano and music theory at the Santa Cecilia music school in Venice and
got her music degree at the G.Tartini Institute in Trieste. She also took
singing lessons in Venice with American jazz singer Down Mitchell.
While she was studying psychology at the University of Padova, she participated
in the song contest San Remo New Talents in the World and won with her pop
ballad "Solo Con Te" (Only With You). This led to a record contract with BMG in
Europe. The album had a successful run in Europe. One of the tracks was used in
a radio and television commercial for Piaggio scooters. Giada is a
great live performer; she is an entertainer that easily communicates with her
audience. She speaks Italian, English, Dutch, French, and some Spanish.
When Giada found her new home in New York, she formed straight away a new band
and is performing regularly in clubs and hotels in New York City and in the Tri
State Area. On October 10th 2005, Giada had the honor to perform as a
special guest on the Red Carpet at the Columbus Day Parade in New York City,
which was broadcasted live by NBC. On November 26th 2005 Giada has
started to perform as a special guest in the show Saturday Nights with Joe
Piscopo in the Sands Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. On February 2nd
2006 she performed her own created show La Dolce Vita Swings, in a sold out
Dicapo Theatre in New York. In May 2006 Giada will start to tour through the USA
with this show. In June she will perform again in New York City and in September
in Conecticut and New Jersey.
