Gino Castillo, percusionista, educador, compositor y cantante ecuatoriano, nacido en Quito el 14 de febrero de 1974. Empieza sus estudios de batería en Ecuador con varios profesores locales. En el año 92 decide viajar a Cuba para profundizar sus estudios y profesionalizarse, donde aprende durante varios años con el maestro Oscar Valdés Moreno, además de cursar por el Centro de investigación y desarrollo de la música cubana, la escuela Félix Varela, donde estudió canto con el maestro Edilio Hernández y la escuela Alejandro García Caturla.
En el año 2000 decide cambiar de instrumento por incentivo del maestro Oscar Valdés (quien fuera 27 años percusionista y cantante de Irakere) e involucrarse cien por ciento en las tumbadoras, bongó, timbal, güiro, etc…
Desde su regreso a Ecuador en junio del año 2000 se integra a la formación permanente del grupo Cruks en karnak, con quienes graba cuatro discos y realiza un sinnúmero de giras a nivel nacional e internacional, recorriendo todo el Ecuador, Estados Unidos, Alemania y España. Adicional a esto se desempeñó durante un año como percusionista y corista de Juan Fernando Velasco, con quien también recorrería el Ecuador y parte de Colombia, asimismo con la cantante Pamela Cortés y con la cantante Carmen Gonzáles con quien fuera como cantante y percusionista invitado a Brasil junto al saxofonista cubano Tito Junco.
Forma parte del grupo Pueblo Nuevo y de la banda que grabara el disco Sensatéz y que le acompañara en todos sus shows al cantautor Sebastián García.
A participado como invitado en conciertos del grupo indígena Winiaipa, La Grupa y en grabaciones con artistas como Fausto Miño, Sudakaya y La Rocola Bacalao.
Estos entre otros varios trabajos como músico de estudio y giras, como las colaboraciones con músicos internacionales de la talla de Alex Alvear, Pascoal Meirelles, André Neiva, Paulo Moura, Oscarito Valdés, Rafael Paceiro, Emilo Morales, el cd en vivo del saxofonista cubano Javier Tito Junco "sinfonía en jazz 2001, la cantante cubana Mara Bauzá y Horacio El Negro Hernández, este último de quien fuera el percusionista invitado en el tour de clínicas que hiciera por Ecuador junto a la marca Pearl, la misma con la que mantiene desde el año 2007 un contrato de exclusividad, convirtiendose en el primer percusionista de Latinoamérica en aparecer en el
e-newsletter de la marca, donde anunciaron el lanzamiento de su cd “Ya Llegamos” y próximamente será incluido en el web site y los catálogos de la misma.
Así mismo mantiene desde el año 2003 un contrato de exclusividad con la marca de platillos Sabian convirtiendose en el primer músico ecuatoriano en recibir un sponsor de una marca internacional, y desde el año 2006 la marca ecuatoriana de baquetas Pears sacó al mercado un modelo con su firma.

En el lado educacional se desempeñó desde el año 2003 hasta el año 2007 como maestro de percusión en el Instituto de Música Contemporanea de la Universidad San Francisco de Quito como parte del Berklee Network y ha desarrollado un método de enseñanza que será plasmado en un dvd llamado ¨ La técnica es la técnica y sin técnica no hay técnica ¨ que pronto estará a la venta.

El disco “Ya Llegamos” dedicado al memoria de Paola Racines (RIP) es su primer disco de jazz latino como solista, habiendo realizado ya en el 2006 un primer intento con el grupo “Santa Palabra” con quienes grabara el cd “Un Día” donde compartieron composiciones de todos los integrantes.
En este trabajo (Ya Llegué) donde todos los temas son de su autoría, comparte con un total de 27 músicos nacionales y extranjeros, entre los cuales se encuentran Horacio El Negro Hernandez, Alex Alvear, Michel Ferré, Carlos Mena, Tony Rodríguez (ex pianista de Isaac Delgado), Carlos Miyares (saxofonista invitado en el ultimo cd de Pancho Céspedes y parte del grupo de Maraca y otra visión), Christian Hidrovo y muchos músicos mas que grabaron en Quito, New Jersey y La Habana, habiendose mezclado y masterizado en su totalidad en PJ audio en Quito por Paúl Jácome.
