You will sink in a mire. You like to think you're normal, but deep down you really just want to strip off your clothes and roll around in chicken fat. Take this quiz!
BIG TAKEOVER - This NY/NJ-based group is led by Ankles frontman Shaun Towey, who recorded this debut LP with members of HIGGINS and other area musicians. Their breezy, trippy, and moderately fuzzed-out pop hints at a '60s influence, sporadically evoking The Rolling Stones, Velvet Underground and the Kinks. But they frequently resemble more modern outfits such as Dandy Warhols, Teenage Fanclub and Luna, while occasionally exhibiting Jesus & Mary Chain or Spiritualized psychedelic ambience. Meanwhile, Towey casually delivers his soft-spoken vocals with a cool, semi-detached air, like a combination of Lou Reed and Ray Davies. With the exception of the aggressive, chugging rocker "What Does the Moon Say?," the radiant, gratifying album never strays too far from its relaxed, sunny vibe. - Mark Suppanz - thanks mark!
glass trees 'La La Love'
lmnop review:
Glass Trees - Glass Trees (CD, Maggadee, Pop/rock)
You'd think, considering the fact that this is yet another guitar band, that this CD would sound exactly like millions of others. But instead, the folks in the creatively-titled Glass Trees distance themselves from the multitude of twenty-first century bands by simply playing from their hearts and souls. Although we're not sure if these were influences or not, on occasion different tracks on this self-titled album sound like a variety of bands including (but not limited to) The Velvet Underground, The Feelies, and Teenage Fanclub. The band members made the wise decision to keep their music simple and straightforward...without getting carried away with layers upon layers of overdubs. Many of the tracks have a nice, laidback rocking sound that is decidedly out-of-synch with the majority of today's superficial bands. The guitars sound groovy indeed...as do the subtle, relaxed vocals. By not trying too hard...these folks have managed to come up with thirteen tracks that are instantly effective and ultimately very cool. Top picks: "Kissin Girls," "Why Not?", "Claire and Jim," "Kevins Dream." (Rating: 5 out of 6)
thanks!

what do you think?
That guitar fits into the color scheme so nicely over there at Rham and Beth's place in Manasquan you could not help but picking that Bigsby clad axe up and writing any of several songs. (heh, heh) See you there soon.
Thank you...we try to dig on everyones interest's or the sounds they enjoy,..We like what you had going on your page...and figured we would take the chance, you would like what we enjoy the most...and thats make music...but for the most part... now that we got that horrible and cheesy statement out of the way....this looks like another typical, but somewhat long band comment... But heck at least its a comment... Right?
