You kiddn' me? Everything. I went to college for this shtuff.
Sounds Like
Up to you, but I'd say, U2, the police, Lenny and the SKIM and Coldplay. One song sounds like any local Jawaiian band you'd hear on the radio, except with Ikaika's high tenor voice. It's pretty much a brand new sound (I know that's hard to believe) with less distortion guitar but the same punch.

In today's high-tech, shrinking world, high quality studios are easier to come by, and musicians are empowered more than ever before. Still, few are able to penetrate the throng. Enter emerging Indie artist, Kamuela Kahoano, the composing, performing, gravity defying dream catcher who's got a "ticket to play." From the remote island of Oahu, Hawaii (where Jack Johnson resides), Kamuela has left his mark in several cities spanning New York to Japan. Kamuela has performed on stage with some of the greatest entertainers Hawaii has to offer, including radio/TV personality, emcee and living legend, Kimo Kahoano (a.k.a. dad), Marlene Tsai, Melveen Leed, emerging talents, David Asing, Kapono Nailiili Tahiti Rey...etc. Kamuela has been hailed as the "Happy Music Maker" with his dynamic use of consonant harmonies, witty prose, catchy melodies and lush textures. Add in clever, sometimes hilarious banter exchange and high-energy that he displays at every live performance, and you get a mainstream formula that truly entertains. Kamuela's newest song, "Grumpy (She's Grumpy It's My Fault)," is Kamuela's radio breakout song, and he plays it at almost every gig. Go get it on itunes if you don't already have it...it's a great solve for grumpiness.
A dedicated music enthusiast (addict) since birth, Kamuela spent most of his childhood mastering the compositional techniques of other artists like Dave Matthews, Third Eye Blind U2, Coldplay, Ani DiFranco, Blackstar, the Beatles Johnny Cash, John Mayer, Bob Marley, Kaau Krater Boys, Boyz II Men, Journey, etc. (e.g. Classical/Jazz/Hip Hop). Kamuela's first instrument was the ukulele at 6 years old, although he would eventually learn several other instruments well enough to record and mix his first CD, Green Light Go (Green Light Go Productions) in 2006. A self taught composer until age 20, Kamuela entered the college of Music composition at the University of Hawaii at Manoa on scholarship and with no prior training. Less than 3 years later Kamuela evolved into a classical music theory buff. To the dismay of many non-believers, Kamuela also entered the University, Chamber and Symphony Choirs, under the direction of Dr. Karen Kennedy. By the time he was 23, Kamuela already completed four full-scale symphonic works and could, in fact, carry a decent tune. Four years later, Kamuela has played over 250 gigs in the past 1 1/2 years and is still only scratching the surface of his full musical potential.
Kamuela currently resides in Honolulu HI, where he performs regularly in a Duo with David Asing, appropriately titled "David and Kamuela," or as a solo act, at various hotel establishments in Waikiki (Hale Koa, Outrigger, Hilton, Resort Quest, Sheraton, Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, etc.). Kamuela is currently producing two new CDs for release in late 2008 and 2009
2008- David and Kamuela
2009- Green Light Go II - Kamuela Kahoano and friends.
Other Projects include:
Katana - spoken word realist (production)
Various other artists.
Don't forget! Grumpy and Green Light Go tracks are available on itunes or at various live gigs (CDs available in Hawaii only (Green Light Go CDs can be purchased online at CDbaby.com).
Hey, thanks for friending me! I'm just a local who never knew where 2 go so I built this site in my spare time. It's all user generated so I really need some help uploading cool bars and specials. I also made up a place where we can post events too. Check it out and let me know what you think. I am still building it so if you have any suggestions, I can usually put them in right away. The site's address is yourareacode.com. Thanks again!

Whats up man. I asked you for those chords tonight, that song you wrote is insane. Anyway no worries if you can't get em to me. Personally I like when you play since you have more variety. Most the other guys stick to one flavor. anyway, take it easy. shoots!
