GM Free's Blurbs |
About me:
BASF ("THE Chemical Company" according to their literature) are developing genetically modified potatoes. They start this year with a five year programme of tests involving planting them at several sites around the United Kingdom. To date the UK is free of commercially planted GM crops; it is our intention to keep it that way. There are many reasons why GM food is bad for our planet, for farmers and for our health. We need to act now before they get a foothold - once established there will be no going back, as the Americas and the Far East have already found out to their cost.

Who I'd like to meet:
Other people interested in stopping genetic engineering of life and the ravaging of Earth by multinationals in search of profit. Ecodefenders of all stripes. People prepared to make their voice heard.
Demo against GM Potatoes
Cambridge 1st July
The campaign against GM potatoes continues. Crops have already been planted in Girton, Cambridge, but it's not too late. Join us on Sunday, 1st July, for a walk to see the trial site - bring something you'd like to plant. We also want costumes, families, footwear and clothing for a country stroll and your favourite potato-based dish.
Meeting point: Girton Parish Church, Girton, Cambridgeshire at Noon.
