Based in Aarhus Denmark, GOB SQUAD started out as a full-blooded punkrock act mixing
aggressiveness and catchy melodies. Having played more than 250 shows, in most of
Europe, the band have grown into becoming one of Denmark’s most dynamic rock bands.
In 2003 GOB SQUAD released their debut album “Call For Response” on German Horror
Business Records and Belgium Eye Spy Records. The release was followed by heavy
touring around Europe.
In 2005 the band released their 2nd album “Far Beyond Control” on German Wolverine
Records. The album was well promoted through Starkult Promotion, which resulted in lots
of interviews, compilation participation and good reviews (to name a few: In Your Face.de
10/10, Mainstage.de 9,5/10, Ox-Fanzine.de 8/10, Revolution-musik.dk 6/6).
In September 2006 the band re-released both albums in Scandinavia, on the Danish label
Cph-Sound. The Release was followed up with intensive touring in Denmark, airplay on the
Danish National Radio station P3, and intense rotation on Modern Rock. Furthermore the
band released a video of their first single “All Good Things Will End”.
GOB SQUAD played the PopKomm Festival in Berlin, in september 2006. Not as part of
the Danish music export drive, merely because of direct interests from the German music
industry.
The fall of 2006 was spent in a nightliner, supporting the highly profiled Danish band THE
MOVEMENT on their European Tour. After that GOB SQUAD was handpicked to support
VOLBEAT, the most successful danish hard rock band right now, on their 2006 fall tour,
which lead the band to every corner of Denmark. That itself is a huge compliment. So
much that when Volbeat was looking for a new guitarist, later that year, they chose GOB
SQUAD front man, Thomas Bredahl.
In May 2007 the band went on a 5 day tour in the Baltic States, being a part of ROSA’s
(Danish Rock Counsel) music drive over there. GOB SQUAD was the first band sent
because, they wanted to ensure, the Baltic crowd was given an intense live experience.
In may 2007 GOB SQUAD signed a booking deal with Danish 3rd Tsunami Agency (Sick
Of It All, Hatebreed, Volbeat, The Bones, As We Fight ect.). They will take care bookings
in Denmark in the future and are already planning a some shows in December and a DK tour in early 2008. GOB SQUAD will also do 2 times 10 dates Europe-tour in february and march, plus additional weekend tours in Scandinavia and mainland Europe.
In the spring of 2007 GOB SQUAD has worked intensively to write material for their third
album. Once again Jakob Bredahl (Hatesphere/Barcode) are taking care of the recording and production in his Smart’N’Hard studio. The new material take the bands
musical development even further and gives you a dynamic rock sound with various genre and mood variations. Now experimenting with 2 vocalists GOB SQUAD manage to mix their punkrock and hardcore roots with genres like soul and pop and a wider spectrum of alternative rock. The new material is a bunch of authentic and honest songs with a direct force of energy that takes the listener to a place he never dreamed of.
In October 2007 GOB SQUAD signed a booking deal with German Dragon Productions
(Candlemass, Destruction, Legion of the damned and Volbeat). They will take care of the bookings in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Besides that GOB SQUAD have signed with Holland Loud Noise (Hatesphere, Malkovich, Mnemic, Sepultura and Volbeat), who will take care of the bookings in Benelux.
In November 2007 GOB SQUAD signed with Holland Mascot Records, who’ll release the new album “Watch the cripple dance” in January 2008. The release will be followed by intense touring around Europe.
In december 2007 GOB SQUAD will support the mighty MOTÖRHEAD at their sold out show in Copenhagen.
In January 2008 GOB SQUAD released their third album "WATCH THE CRIPPLE DANCE", which recieved some really good reviews (BT: 5/6, Revolution Music: 5/6, FHM: 4/6, 24 Timer: 4/6) and was selected album of the month in danish Metro Xpress
GOB SQUAD will tour Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Belgium and Holland in spring 2008
