The phrase "God Loves a Challenge" was scribbled almost illegibly on a
bathroom wall at a dingy New York City bar when Ben Jorgensen, former
singer/songwriter of Armor for Sleep, saw it and committed it to
memory. "It seemed interesting to me that a drunken wall-scribbler was
contemplating such deep thoughts." God Loves a Challenge as a musical
entity was conceived when Ben wanted to write songs that incorporated
both the male and female sides of the emotional spectrum. He and Sierra
Shardae connected when Sierra sent him some of her own music, which
fell in line with exactly what he was doing. From the deserts
outside of Los Angeles to the concrete jungle of Jersey City she
traveled, and tracking of what would become the first songs began.
Production whiz Jayson DeZuzio heard the early demos and immediately
signed on to work on the tracks and bring them to life. Soon after he
was enlisted into service as a full-time member. Drawing from early
synth outfits like Depeche Mode and Human League as well as
contemporary acts such as Nine Inch Nails and The Knife, G.L.A.C.
finds its musical footing. Ranging from dancey songs about
intoxicating first encounters to cinematic songs about life-crushing
heart-break, each tells its own story and has its own voice. God
Loves a Challenge is new to the world and ready to open its eyes to
whatever future it will create for itself.
I was just stopping by to give you crap about not adding any new content in a while...and look what I found! A new song, a new blog AND a new video from the looks of it.
Open Up The Window is great. Ben, I like hearing your voice on this new venture without so many effects as the previous 4 songs had. It's a nice balance.
I totally dig the new song! I can't wait to hear some more new ones! Keep it up! Please make them download-able soon... My poor truck needs some new tunes to listen too :o)
