Robbie Merrill is the Grammy® nominated bassist for the multi-platinum rock band Godsmack. In his IMV "Behind the Player" DVD, Merrill gives an intimate behind-the scenes look at his life as a professional musician – including rare photos and video footage.
Merrill then gives in-depth bass lessons for how to play "Speak" and "Voodoo" by and jams the tracks with Godsmack drummer Shannon Larkin.
VideoTab™ shows exactly how Merrill plays the two tracks. The video-game-style animated tablature is similar to GuitarHero™, but shows how to play the tracks for real. The DVD is now available at Guitar Center or BehindThePlayer.com.
The producers of the IMV series donate $.25 from the sale of each DVD to Little Kids Rock (LittleKidsRock.org), an organization that gets instruments in the hands of underprivileged kids.

In 1995, after spending nearly 25 years as a drummer in more than a dozen ill-fated bands, success as a music professional seemed not in the cards for Sully Erna. Yet Sully, who rose from the gutters of Lawrence, Massachusetts, decided to take one last shot at capturing his life long dream. He founded the hard nosed, tough edged rock band Godsmack, and it all came together thanks to the commitments and multiple contributions of himself, bassist Robbie Merrill, guitarist Tony Rombola and drummer Tommy Stewart. Three years later, their prayers were answered when Universal Republic signed them to a multi album, major label, record deal. Within weeks, their self-titled debut CD was available in record stores. Godsmack's first single "Whatever" broke through the concrete wall of American popular music, quickly soaring to the No. 3 spot on the Billboard charts, where it remained for an incredible 53 straight weeks.&nbs
You guys have been one of my favorite bands since I first heard you in 1999. I cannot wait for the new cd. Today I heard your new song "cry like a bitch" on an internet radio station. To be honest, the music is awesome but the lyrics are generic as hell. Sully has such an awesome metal voice but the lyrics are the downfall. I really hope the new cd has some epic songs with better lyrics than this one or whiskey hangover.
k i am seriously your guyses biggest fan in the whole fucking world! i love your music, your songs have meanings behind them and very few bands have that any more. you guys are so amazing!!! i love you all love kirsten p.s. me and my best friends cant wait to see you at rock on the range!!!!
