About Us:
Effectively merging the cultures of east and west, God of Shamisen (G.o.S.) is the world’s first metal band relying on the three-stringed fretless lute of northern Japan. Led by Kevin Kmetz, a master of the Tsugaru-shamisen, the band features performing members of Estradasphere, the Fishtank Ensemble, and the Secret Chiefs 3. No longer bound to the strenuous and motoric pentatonic scales and eastern flavored melodic patterns, the shamisen’s yearning for freedom has lead her into the hands of creative musicians living in California, USA, who are willing to let her explore any and all styles of music out there! Right now we are mostly instrumental, focusing on the combination of traditional shamisen and various rock styles. But keep your ears to the ground... some true evolution is in the works.
Also, Kevin and Lee also perform in the awesome band Estradasphere!

If you're coming to Phoenix and need a place to play/stay, let us know. It would be a basement show at an established house/venue. If not at our place, though, I'm sure you'd have no difficulty getting into the Trunk Space or an even bigger venue...
