DJ Delicti's Blurbs |
About me:
My name is DJ Delicti and I am a DJ and event promoter in southeastern New England, where I DJ club nights and run shows along with a handful of highly-dedicated friends and staff. I aim to bring good music to good people who want to hear it. My chief interests lie in the punk, post-punk, industrial(70's and 80's) and goth music scene, as well as a good deal of their derivative genres.
I am first and foremost a music collector. I enjoy music that is artistic and honest -- that is, music usually not found on major labels. If you want to be a superstar or scene queen then we probably have little in common. Listen to "Pull My Strings" by the Dead Kennedys if you need a reference.
SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTION
(mostly so people who know me from different things can find me)
DJ STUFF
I am a DJ for a weekly night called "Sanctuary," in Providence, RI, and a contributing broadcaster to Liquid Gothic web radio. Prior to these events, I DJed a monthly event called "Heresy," which was a Batcave/Deathrock/Goth night at Club Hell, as well as a weekly, eclectic format night called "Corrosion" at Club Hell, and later Club Gallery, in Providence, RI. In college, I was a DJ on 91.1 WJJW, North Adams, MA.
I have spun guest DJ sets at Providence's Nokturnal (where I was a major organizer of the "Love Sucks" Valentine's night) and at Club Hell's "Resurrection," the predecessor to the "Corrosion" night. I spun at "Zombified," and "Re:Zombified," both being Troma benefit shows in Brooklyn, NY, was a guest DJ at QXT's, New Jersey's all goth and industrial club, and spun at the 2007 New England Darkside Walkers' Ball.
I have also had the great honor of being one of the DJs at DROP DEAD FESTIVAL III and IV in NYC, and this year's Dances of Vice Festival Weekend I.
EVENT PROMOTION EXPERIENCE
Through "Corrosion," I have been involved in the booking of bands like 45 Grave, Holy Cow, Blitzkid, The Brides, Deadfly Ensemble, The Automatons, Dorian James, and similar acts. Through "Sanctuary," I've been involved in th booking of bands like the Attrition, Thomas Nola et Son Orchestre, and the Dirge Carolers.
I ran the "CC's Cafe" coffee house in North Adams for two years and a half, where we booked acts like Peter Mulvey, Greg Greenway, Martin Sexton, and Jim Infantino. I also ran an open mic in New Bedford at the Daily Grind for 9 months, until the place shut down. I have experience running events that run the gamut of having $12,000 acts with contracts and riders, to booking acts for tip money over coffee. I have also been known to run occasional benefit concerts for the New Bedford soup kitchens.
POETRY STUFF
I was part of the two-man poetry group The Warrior Poets for two years, and we featured on WSAR-Somerset twice, performed for New Bedford's "Tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr."(40th Anniversary of The Dream), "AHA! Night;" I've also performed at the University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth DCE, The Pheonix Coffee House (now defunct), taught a poetry workshop at "Brick by Brick" (a center for underpriviledged children to explore the arts), and performed at a dozen other coffee houses in the Providence and Boston area.
COMPUTER STUFF
I was one of the co-founders of "Undead Linux," a 500,000+ downloaded linux distribution written from scratch. I was the original author of many of the initialization scripts and the pkgtool packaging system.
