First you enter a dark room that looks like a maritime tool shed, hardly any light coming in. Step by step down the stairs you get the impression that there are places left, where magic still exists. Finally arrived underground you are the guest of SUE, probably the only band that can proudly call a studio in a water tank their own. "Home Philosophy" is not the typical newcomer debut LP. Long before Skip Danko and Enno Lengert founded SUE, they were both active during the blooming period of PUNK and very much influenced by that time. As the lead singer of the punkrock band "Eternal Rest" - who he has been for many years - Skip is now singing his songs with a nonsuch headvoice that makes the sound of SUE so special. Enno likes switching between his gitarre and contra bass. After only one year Thilko Rassau joins the band SUE. With his calm, sentimental sound of his acoustic guitar he adds an important part to the character of the songs. Quite quickly you realize that their music represents some sort of projection screen of the 3 east frisians, revealing their inner life. 2004 Milan East (producer from Hamburg, Remixes for Beginner, Jan Delay, Herbert Grönemeyer) joins the group as fourth member to be in leage. Skip and Milan meet in the Turtle Bay Country Club, the studio of their common friend Matthias Arfmann (Beginner, Patrice, Jan Delay). With the integration of Milan “SUE” refine their sound with a few new electronic elements in their ballads. With this extraordinary cast of characters Sue starts working on Home Philosophy. Matthias Arfmann, who supported and produced other projects of skip and milan - like “Zwiebel Zwiebel Hurra” or the hardcore band ”Caligari” - liked the sound of sue and decided to step in as co-producer. As well involved in “Home Philosophy” are Swen Meyer (Kettcar, Tomte), Andreas Meid (Kid Alex, DIM) and Nils Kacirek (Plexique, Station 17). Lable of SUE s debut LP is Z-Muzic (Danja Atari, Sola Plexus, Susanne Blech) which is run by Sebastian Maier who happened to be a phenomenal drummer. He became an inherent part of the band for live perfomances. Home philosophy is an album that truly succeeds in awakening all of our emotions: Longing, desperation, melancholy, hope... Love. The album celebrates fragility in classical and uncompromising pop ballads. fragility that naps in everyone of us, as deep as sue, down there, in the water tank. -
