ABOUT GREENHAW RECORDS
Greenhaw Records was formed by producer-musician Art Greenhaw, and its offices were Greenhaw's family hardware-furniture-appliances-music store on the old town square of Mesquite, Texas. Art Greenhaw had been a combination music man and businessman, leading pop combos all through his school years for clients such as the father of rock great, Steve Miller. Art found that by producing and arranging in unusual and
creative concept albums some of the world's greatest and most authentic
singers and players, he could create a buzz for his label and his
artistic vision. In 2003, his concept album, WE CALLED HIM MR. GOSPEL
MUSIC, won the Grammy for Best Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel
Album of the Year. Art Greenhaw's rootsy, Americana sound via Greenhaw
Records yielded 8 Grammy Nominations in 10 years, an almost unheard-of
achievement for a small, indie label. Greenhaw Records has always been
artist-oriented, in fact, a company slogan is "artists helping artists".
Greenhaw's roster through the years has included some of the world's
greatest artists: Ann-Margret, Engelbert Humperdinck, James Blackwood,
The Jordanaires, The Light Crust Doughboys, Nokie Edwards of The
Ventures, The Blackwood Brothers, Larry Ford, Trini Lopez, Tom Brumley,
Larry "T-Byrd" Gordon, The Salty Dogs, Big John Hall, The SMU Mustang
Band, The James Blackwood Quartet and more.
Art's own vocals, guitar, bass and keyboard playing continued to make their contributions to Greenhaw Records' success. His original songs such as "Gospel Woman", "Always Hear The Harmony", "Sending Me You", "Music Man Play On" and many more have played an important part in the label's Grammy-Winning and Grammy-Nominated albums. And along with Greenhaw Records' obvious acclaim in gospel music, the label has charted new courses in surf rock, instrumental rock, rockabilly, western swing, world/Indian music, traditional pop and blues.
The label continues to represent the vision of its founder, Art
Greenhaw.
