I've been been performing a long time. On the surface I'm a songwriter in the troubadour tradition, with an extensive original catalog plus traditionals. I take particular inspiration from what I learned from a bunch of folks that meet in Winfield, Kansas every year. I'm a nyc/long island USA kind of guy, I've learned about alot of different kinds of music.
Outside of NYC, I do the same in both the States and other countries around the world. I released my 10th cd this year "On the way to India, we stopped in Poland, now in France";(available by request, or at shows)
I've been touring regularly in UK, and playing scatterd shows around Europe, willy nilly.
I live in france now, tho i must admit we are thinking about the Republic of Ireland....

the tzutzujil gave me the name a bird who sings at twilight and the sound of water over pebbles in a creek.

Sans ce guitariste et chanteur, qui a déjà une demi-douzaine d'albums à son actif, la renaissance du folk n'aurait pas eu lieu : Devendra Banhart reconnaît d'ailleurs en lui un modèle d'écriture. Ben Chasny fait aussi partie du groupe Comets on Fire et a collaboré avec des groupes tels que Badgerlore, Current 93, ou encore Magik Markers. Shelter from the Ash, le dixième album du groupe est sorti en 2007 sur le prestigieux label de rock indépendant américain Drag City. Sur scène, il sera accompagné d'Alex Neilson à la baterie et d'Elisa Ambrogio (membre fondatrice de Magik Markers) à la guitare.
